I think your only hope on that front is to flash a custom ROM that predates Lollipop and sideload them with an APK file. Dunno if they need active servers to work, but if that's not the case, they should work fine.

You can't play even if you find the APK. I've spent some time working on this before. It was the same thing with esp2 which I actually had on my phone. It simply quit working without any upgrades to the phone because I think it has to check in with some servers as you suggest.

It seems to be "just" mobile Futari. Though something feels off, but I don't know why, exactly. Besides that:
- The game's called Bug Princess but you don't get to use the Bug Princess unless you pay real money.
- Turning off sound effects doesn't stop the obnoxious laser sound.
- When you reach the boss the screen becomes black and the game takes you to it, with no buildup or transition.
- The boss dies and doesn't explode, but just pops out of existence (might just be the game recognizing my phone as not worthy).

Still, it's free mobile Futari.
