Was this comparison between different bullet colours posted here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3WdhFz_CKk ?
My only experience with Garegga is starting it in MAME once or twice and just going 'wow fuck these bullets', I'm super stoked for this release though

Flashing purple bullets in Garegga...what a time to be alive.
Just for that I'll have to pick this up when it comes Westward.

Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
I´m so happy about the colored bullets option, I can´t say it enought. This way I really have a chance to complete this wounderful game. And it´s also perfect for shmup beginners, which get to frustrated to fast with the original bullet style. What M2 does to Battle Garegga with this release is a dream. The only flaw is, there will be no physical release
. I hope they will change that and release it physical with marquee and instruction strip included.
Looking forward to other releases with their new ShotTriggers Brand.
When will this be released in the west??? How can one purchase the japanese version at 12.12.2016? Is it possible without an extra PSN-account? Is there any guide for this?

I'm liking the bright bullets. If they don't release this on Steam then I'll have to come to the conclusion that two wasn't enough.

not really liking the bright bullets personally, never had visibility issues outside of stage 6 tanks shooting near the bottom of the screen

Yeah I've never understood peoples problems with visibility myself. I can only think of one or two very short situations where they really blend. Other then that when I die it's just sight reading fail.

Yeah, the only problem i ever had with bullet visibility was getting shot by a bullet hidden in an explosion first couple of credits i ever played.
It's not a problem if you actually focus on the game, like any other game.

Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
I'm one of those people with the Garegga visibility issue and I must say that I equally, never understood how people did not have an issue with some bullet visibility.
Perhaps veteran Geragga players memorization overrides the novice's visual problems with the game?
As for myself, I can say that although my sight is perfect, the smaller bullets in Garegga are like blind-spots on the screen to me. Its that severe.
Game design aside, when a player fails because phantom bullets and flying debris merge in a screen static migraine, shmup happiness does not ensue
I would love to be able to get into this game but I am definitely "Garegga challenged".

In the Mad Ball comparison at the end of the video they all seem to close up at different times. What's driving that?
Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
Whats about the 2 frames input lag someone mentioned earlier?
Were does that come from? Is it dependent in the controller used (wired/wireless)?

I guess it's a difference of skillset, when it comes to the visibility. I'm not a veteran and I haven't memorized everything, but from day 1 there were only a few setpieces where I didn't find bullets highly visible.Zen wrote:I'm one of those people with the Garegga visibility issue and I must say that I equally, never understood how people did not have an issue with some bullet visibility.

I'm still stuck on the third boss. Hopefully flashing purple bullets will help.
The thing is, can you imagine Black Heart MkII firing those? Non-stop seizures, guaranteed.

it's "native" to the game on PCB, probably gone in the port because it's M2Shadolf wrote:Whats about the 2 frames input lag someone mentioned earlier?

You cheeky bollocks! Are you questioning my "skillset"?Squire Grooktook wrote:I guess it's a difference of skillset, when it comes to the visibility

I guess what I was trying to get across with my last post is that perhaps, for some people, something funky is going on visually, when it comes to Garegga. Garegga "colourblindness", if you will.

Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
The third boss is all about destroying its parts in the right order; it gets really out of hand if you don't do it right, which might be what's happening for you!AxelMill wrote:I'm still stuck on the third boss. Hopefully flashing purple bullets will help.
Nice to see the bullet visibility option there, just to remove another obstacle to people enjoying the game if nothing else. There are only one or two sections that would make me tempted to use it (second screen of stage 7, maybe certain parts of stage 6), so perhaps one of the very-slightly-enhanced modes might be worth trying.
Next week! I'm ready.

Heh, not quite. More I've always believed that "skill" doesn't exist quite as linearly as some people believe, and that many people have unique strengths and weaknesses when it comes to mastering a game (as opposed to the "everything is just memorization and everyone will learn at the same rate if they just use the same methods" philosophy).Zen wrote:You cheeky bollocks! Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
being blind isn't a "different skillset" but a huge issue
your brain has to memorize:
1) what the bullets actually look like compared to the visual effects/background
2) how the bullets move after being shot so you can easily tell objects apart by their behavior
then you'll never be caught off guard by something unexpected because you'll expect everything

Which you can do from the first appearance of the first bullet of that type. Most of the infamous tiny needle bullets debut on stage 1 anyway.Bananamatic wrote: 1) what the bullets actually look like compared to the visual effects/background
If people are struggling to identify bullets after the same amount of play time, then that just indicates a difference in visual processing.
Aka straight. I'm struggling to think of any curving or directional shifting of any bullets in Garegga. Batrider has a few.Bananamatic wrote: 2) how the bullets move after being shot so you can easily tell objects apart by their behavior

I don't believe it's as deterministic as being a "a difference in processing" that you can't improve though. Probably a skill like most other things unless you've got some sort of neurological issue.
This is true.Squire Grooktook wrote: Aka straight. I'm struggling to think of any curving or directional shifting of any bullets in Garegga. Batrider has a few.
The only pattern that could be perceived as "curving" is the infamous Madball pattern. Even though the bullets in themselves are straight.

Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
Oh, didn't know that, thanks, Bananamatic and Keres.
Though, I have to admit that I usually die waay before I get to even think about that: I have a terrible reaction time ("why even bother with this genre?"), so fighting a boss that doesn't start shooting only when it's at the very top of the screen is pretty tough.
So yeah, maaaybe flashing purple bullets will help.

Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
it's because garegga has a super weird difficulty curve (if it even is a curve)AxelMill wrote: Though, I have to admit that I usually die waay before I get to even think about that
most of the game can be survived blind without a route just randomly dodging (even stage 6), then it throws a few things that are insanely difficult or an instant death if you don't know what the hell you're doing
it's super easy to die on the 1st boss if you don't know how the boss behaves and the final attack can be pretty dangerous for a stage 1 boss
the tank in the middle of st2 is also really difficult and dangerous to do at the bottom of the screen just by random dodging
madball 2nd phase can screw you up with a bad pattern if you're unlucky

Re: BATTLE GAREGGA REV.2016 (M2)
Oh definitely. Some people might just need to put more time into certain things. But I definitely believe that different people have different strengths and weaknesses and improve at different rates, and personal experience with watching others play and improve has really confirmed this to me. You can also see similar phenonom in other genres like fighting games where some people need to work harder to deal with some stuff then others.Eaglet wrote: I don't believe it's as deterministic as being a "a difference in processing" that you can't improve though. Heads up: The premium edition is currently on sale for 68€ on ninnin. They have reasonable shipping costs and offer a good service. I can recommend them.

Yeah, I don't doubt that either, and I'm certainly not apologizing for the bullets causing that for some people. I do feel its something of a design flaw, but the variability in reaction to it is interesting.

Eh ? what about Black Heart's bitch-move-your-hips-left-and-right douchebaggery ? it sure looks curvy to me, graphically straight bullets or not.Eaglet wrote:This is true.Squire Grooktook wrote:Aka straight. I'm going straight for 'arrange mode' (I know it has a different name and probably won't be utterly different outside of dynamic rank), 2016 remixed music, and purple bullets. BRING IT!

This is pretty interesting.kane wrote:
I have a slight color perceptive deficiency (red/green) that comes up on medical checks as well but nothing that has troubled me whatsoever irl or in any game.
Going from my own point of view i'd chalk it all up to some manner of focus. I don't think the color of the bullets is what matters.
After all, any sort of movement should be perceptable regardless of color vision.
That's the best name i've ever seen for it.Xyga wrote: Eh ? what about Black Heart's bitch-move-your-hips-left-and-right douchebaggery ? it sure looks curvy to me, graphically straight bullets or not.

The bullets are fired straight, it's just that the vulcans swerve.
Also, something i thought about in regards to bullet color:
I've seen some people write here that the game is gonna be easier to get into and get better at etc. when that's in fact kind of missing the point.
The game is jokingly referred to as "maso-core" in Japan which means that it's a game for masochists that demand you git gud in order for it to give you your sought after spanking.
