Nice to see that you didn't run into the problems I had with the DC (flickering). Did you actually try the other point on which I ran into problems ? With the DC connected to the passthrough input (but switched off), I was not able to get scanlines to display on another source (RGB or component).

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
that was a very extensive review
Just finished watching. You're easy to have. I would have expected a bit more critic on the GBS-8220 itself. I know that it's good enough for many people, but with your experience with other linedoublers and scalers, it should be obvious that it's the weak point in the concept.

I`ve made a new master control PCB, this is the PCB with the interfaces in the back. I`ve improved the wiring here. Other improvement already done:Nice to see that you didn't run into the problems I had with the DC (flickering). Did you actually try the other point on which I ran into problems ? - Enclosure now laser engraving with logo.
- Scanline Intensity Adjustment knob is an own design.
It`s the same used in Supergun MAK Stike

I hope something has been lost in translation for that one!Fudoh wrote:You're easy to have.
I did question whether I should have spent some time on this area, but in all honesty I approached this as being a product for the masses and tbh, I've only had one person remark to me off-line about the quality of the scaler. What I'm trying to say is that it really is a solution for the majority and I really didn't want to "go off" on a slight tangent, when nearly every single question I have ever received about the GBS scaler, has been about it's ability to work with all manner of consoles. This was the real reason for the video review. It's also the reason why I mentioned and referenced your site.... that is where the technical critic is. No point re-inventing the wheel in reality.Fudoh wrote:I would have expected a bit more critic on the GBS-8220 itself. I missed that test mate. However based on what Jochen has said, the passthru bypasses everything now apart from the SLG. I can certainly test it if you wish.Fudoh wrote:Nice to see that you didn't run into the problems I had with the DC (flickering). Did you actually try the other point on which I ran into problems ? sure would be nice. Because if both bugs are gone, I would just update my review.I can certainly test it if you wish.

I put your findings then in the manual as usage recommendation. btw one test exemplar was sent to the german paper mag PC Praxis last week. They will have in one of the upcoming issues a special about retro gaming.I'll look at this other test and update on this thread.

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
I completely forgot about updating in respect of Fudoh's question.....
Having a "pass-thru" connected (even powered off) effectively means the scaler is disabled.
It's a minor caveat in respect to the functionality of the device and is worth mentioning incase someone tries and assumes it's "broken".
I was aiming to grab my AES and N64 out of the garage last weekend, but it will have to wait until next weekend now. Next update will be to confirm status with AES and N64.

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
Thank you so much, Fagin, for your awesome video.
It answers a lot of questions I had.
However, I still have some (sorry!)
You said that passthrough causes problems even not turned on.
I noticed that every time you plug a system, it is alone. I mean you never plug several systems at once.
Since it is my goal to have all my systems plugged at the same time :
- can we plug scart AND component, and have a good image?
- can we plug several scart system on the scart input, witout any issue? I intend to use this kind of adaptor :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro-Splitter ... d_sim_ce_9
- last on but not so important : does the sodipeng coregrafx works? You said you see no reason why not, but... you never know!
Thank you so much!

SCART and Component at the same time is fine.
I don't use SCART switchers so unable to comment on that one, but as long as it switches correctly I would have thought you'd be OK.
Can't make comment on the "sodipeng" mod.... never had experience.
Further testing completed this weekend:
Apologies for the delay in this as I had promised to do this testing ages ago.
SLG-in-a-Box works flawlessly with both an early revision NEOGEO AES (Serial No. 1110) and an early NTSC (RGB Modded) Nintendo N64.

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
Hi guys, thought I would bump this thread instead of starting a new one. Ordered an SLG in a box a few months ago and it's been a fantastic solution to playing everything on my monitor, however I am having problems with two consoles in my collection. The first being a PAL Gamecube and the other a Japanese N64. I have tried both with a third party scart lead (works flawlessly with my Super Famicom) the Gamecube image is distorted through the SLG and the N64 displays nothing at all. Neither consoles are modded, both work on my trinitron with the same third party lead. My pack in component (red/white/yellow>scart adapter>slg) doesn't work either.
Anyone encountered a problem with these consoles? Component is most probably the forward with the cube, but I'm unsure of a solution for the N64. Official Nintendo scart leads seem rarer than GC component cables these days.

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
It's the cable that's the problem.... not the SLG.
Both of those consoles (and same regions as you) work 100% with this set-up.
Just checking...... Your N64 is RGB enabled?
I use an official lead with my PAL Gamecube.

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
Thanks for the reply, N64 is unmodded, soon to be though.
I spied the official Nintendo scart lead in your demonstration and assumed my third party leads were the issue, i'll have another play around. Sound and no picture must be a duff lead as you stated.

Re: SLG-in-a-Box
The SLG in a box will only work with either a component or RGB SCART. If your N64 is not RGB modded it won't work regardless of lead being used.
Red, white and Yellow is composite video and audio - that will not work.
