Congrats! I also got recently into shmups and my first 1cc is Crimzon Clover in Novice mode, just 2 days ago!

My next step, however, is to become comfortable with 1cc'ing novice with the arcade stick I'm expecting to have in a few weeks, before I start attempting normal. Not sure if that's the right way to do it or not.
I took at least one day to get used to the arcade stick. I don't think it takes long, so should be a good plan

Congratulations, newbloods. I expect great things.

As for me I finally stuck it to Phantom Castle for a BFJ clear in DBCS, Legend ship. =]

Jeez, nice! Workin' on getting a modest score on loop 1 first before I even entertain the second loop, and I know I'm not gonna aim at Ura when I do! wtg!

Just a few easy clears

Definitely Mushihimesama (Maniac), had a lot of fun with it even though it took me an awful lot of time to clear it. It's not a hard clear or something to be really proud of, but for me as a beginner this was a huge accomplishment.

I orientate myself after this list, trying to slowly climb my way up. A ~20 clear would be awesome, probably gonna practice Strikers 1945 (1) next.

Hey everyone, what's up!

Yeah, as of a few hours ago, I got my 1st 1cc of Epsgaluda II! I used Ageha for this one! :)

Yeah, I even got to know where to use Kakusei Zesshikai in some places as well, so I got a bit of score in it as well! While I messed up on some things in the run, all in all, I'm quite pleased that I got my 1st 1cc of Espgaluda II! :D

Recently got 1LCs in Abadox and Over Horizon, two outstanding shooters for Famicom. I think the former can only really be beaten on one life, as it's pretty much impossible to recover after a death in the later stages. The latter feels a lot like a Konami game; particularly if you like the Thunder Cross games or Space Manbow, you really need to play Over Horizon.

That's totally a big accomplishment! I haven't cleared it quite yet... I know it's in my reach, it's just gonna take some time. I wish the scoring wasn't as arcane in that mode though.

Very nicely done! But I think you should add that more people should play Blue Label :P

Ah yes this definitely, I'l add particularly for those that find certain aspects of arcade overtly frustrating. Blue is kinda like mushi black label original in that it's easier at low level play and very hard the further you push it, not being able to lose your chain if you bomb at bosses is a massive alleviator of arcades issue imo.

Maybe I will actually give Blue a real look. I love a lot of things about the arcade version, but I'm already nearing the point where any chain drop is an instant restart, not even including catspider stuff. Since you were nice enough to share your replays, I feel a little more like I wouldn't be completely flailing in the dark when it comes to Blue-specific strats.

Ok well in regards to the chain the main thing to bare in mind in blue is bosses never drop your chain if you need to bomb, it hovers over 2 skull meter so you can pick it back up that and bullets cancel to coins. I exploited this alot back when i was building a route toward 50 mill.

Same with the stages outside the bosses too, but you need to be careful to leave something alive so you can chain to something immediately after the bomb ends. They also made it so bullets cancelled by bombs turn into coins which is more satisfying. Not dropping the chain during a bomb is my favorite change in Blue Label. I also like that it replaces the tapping coin-streaming on bosses with grazing and bullet-cancelling (IIRC grazing works outside of bosses too but it's most relevant on bosses; original version also had bullet-cancelling on bosses but the bullets didn't turn into coins). I'm not a huge fan of grazing but it's a lot more interesting than the tapping. I also like that coin-streaming works from the start rather than having to reach 1000 chain first - it barely makes a difference to high-level play but it enables beginners to more easily get started with scoring rather than be left wondering why they can't coin stream.

Grazing is actually more relevant in stages but it's what i'd call an advanced strat, basically if you are streaming coins with shot and you graze at the same time you'll hear the coin sound go rapid and you acquire way more coins for it. It's why in stage 1 for example after the turret i rush into the spawning dudes at the top and really aggressively risk grazing a bullet whilst rinsing the shot, at that point it will leave me with anywhere between 2/400 more coins depending on how well i do it. Starting the game the instant stream allows you to gain a few hundred more than arcade by sweeping the first row with shot then shiki covering a bullet and moving left to right to get the streams you get whilst covering a bullet, it will get you 3/400 more leading to the turret.

I thought you can only coin stream with the normal shot and can only graze while using the shikigami? Or is there also grazing while coin streaming during stages?

I'l try to explain again, when you are using shot exclusively but your skull meter is gold so you stream lots of coins if you also graze a bullet at the same time the rate at which coins stream increases a lot.

Is the final pattern in Blue Label any different, because that pattern has stumped me several dozen times and makes me give up. :(
