Söldner-X 2 PS Vita Physical Release in January 2017

Post by Ceph »

After an extremely limited release (only 3200 copies) by Limited Run Games this year, a self-published release of Söldner-X 2 PS Vita by eastasiasoft will be coming up in January 2017:

The 2nd one is objectively the best, but if you are able to make a reversible one, why bother with the poll?
It's a decent way to let people know that they're making such thing, I guess.

Are the publishing rules for Asia more lax or something? Seems odd they would actively promote an Asia release to a majority English-speaking audience

I got this digitally for being a Plus member, but it'd be kind of cool to have still. Especially since it's actually a pretty big file.
I wonder how many they'll be producing for this run. Anymore, import games just show up when you search Amazon.com, so it makes sense they can advertise worldwide when the system is region free.

Will definitely buy. This has to be the most underrated shooter in recent memory. Still play it regularly for the graphics and music.

Sweet deal all around! I haven't heard of this game until recently, but it looks really good, I might consider picking one up. Always nice to see SHMUPS hitting retail.

Oh yes they are, think of it like how Japan was before cero. Also it might have to do with the fact that Play-Asia is a Hong Kong company and Eastasisoft was a company created specifically after Play-Asia saw the success of Last Hope on the Dreamcast.

English speakers outside North America in general.
If I'm not mistaken, Limited Run Games isn't an official Sony publisher in other regions. All the formalities for their games like ESRB ratings are US based.

Wow...actually, this looks pretty good, and for $25? Sounds even better.

What's the general consensus of the game on the PS3? Decent hori?

I think its one of the better designed games far as euroshmups go

but it still has some of the trappings of that design philosophy

I really like this game. Beautiful HD graphics with fine fluency (running at 60 fps), very good soundtrack, excellent controls and a pleasant and entertaining gameplay.
My favorite stage is the third due to the epic music: https://youtu.be/-iCqBg81Of0

Even though some enemies look cheap due to their Flash-like animations and the game has a terrible final boss without the DLC, yeah, it's definitely a great game.

I really hate it. No real thought put into level or boss design. All a splotch of random crap. Poorly paced and balanced too (and IIRC it's like an hour long, ugh).

I guess you might say it's playable by euroshmup standards, but that's like saying it's the most enjoyable kick in the balls.

Honestly, Sine Mora might be a better game. At least it's not as repetitive and tries for a soul of its own (albeit a terribly conceived one).

I ask, not because I disagree (no frame of reference with which to do so), but because I'd like the aforementioned frame of reference: can you cite a couple of examples of games (specifically horis) which would have thought put into level and boss design?

Every Darius, every Gradius (cept maybe Arcade 3, and even then, more a lack of testing/balancing), every R-Type except Final, Pulstar, Blazing Star, Progear, Deathsmiles, Metal Back, etc. off the top of my head.

Soldnerx2 is just monotonous, repetitive, and takes too long imo. It's a classic weak euroshmup through and through.

I appreciate the clarification. I'm certain that I can't agree with *every* Darius, but enough of your examples were clarification enough.

Not going to lie the game does look like it's missing something, but then again it is a budget title, so I'll still give it a shot. Besides I've seen Triple A titles do a whole lot worse with a huge budget.

Important: the DLC "The Last Chapter" makes the game much more complete with 10 stages (standard version has 7) and contains a Final Boss dozens of times more interesting and challenging than the standard version. Stage 9 is one of the coolest and a clear tribute to the R-Type Series with its specific stages of large battleships. I don't know if this physical version for PSP Vita incorporates this DLC, but should to deliver the complete package. Through this playlist you can see the full game with all 10 stages and the Final Boss mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... BCEB8FB017

I still expect to see SoldnerX 2 on Steam for PC....surely it's will gain more profits, make good use of great hardware power from pc

long time since the last time i played, i remember there are some really lame scenes, where the big boss spray at you alot of bullet hell, but then luckily the wild barrier appears!! lololol! WTF, that attack is not that hard to deal with......what the hell developer think? it's greatly reduce challenge of the game...

and one more thing i complain is attack patterns of enemies not lethal, most bullet attack waves travel at quite slow speed so you will have no problem to dodge if you got decent reflex skill and memorization..and then the health bar....oh..one again, those things just greatly reduce challenge of the game...

i have no idea about soundtrack other than totally praising for musical quality (as a view of composer myself)

i love that kind futuristic-ish techno orchestra style ever since i listened to gradius V soundtrack...simply outstanding experience!

Wasn't the whole soldner series produced in partnership with play-asia... they funded the first one in full, and had some kind of relationship on 2? I'm pretty sure x2 was put about as psn exclusive at the time... which seems to have actually meant brand exclusive for once, even if it now comes to a sony platform in physical form.

Good on them if there's [small?] fan demand. Can't say I was ever a big fan of the actual games, but the first soldner pc release was a nicely made product - decent pack-ins + drm free game.

I realize that English is not your first language, and I'm honestly not trying to poke fun here, but could you explain what "loseless format" is in different terms? It's a strange term that I can't quite understand the meaning of...

FLAC format, as he mentioned later on with "i already [got] "the last chapter" flac at rafael dyll['s] bandcamp".
It is weird that he only uploaded the DLC's OST.

Joy for seeing a new physical release.
Sadness for it being for such a poor game.

Söldner-X 2 is soulless, a flat game that on top of everythging wrong fucks you in the ass with luck.

The first Söldner-X is a much better game and deserved better.
Maybe a compilation of the two games would make me more enthusiastic but yeah

geez, i'm east asian you know,my english is sometime broken like that,sr if it's problem for you!

@Kollision yeah, not really that bad,but sadly german logic for shmup is not any better than euro-shmup in general......:(

gameplay still inferior to Gradius V despite top quality audio, graphic

Yes,the first SoldnerX on PC i admitted it's much better
but on console version, they simply toned down everything to make the game no more like a kid-friendly shmup

Wasn't trying to be a problem...was just trying to understand. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding. I still don't know what you were referring to, but that's okay. I can live in ignorance.
