I've really got to disagree with you there, I was playing it earlier and found it really difficult to focus throughout levels 3&4. This game really needs total clarity and definition to give yourself a chance so a blurry/messy resolution is really a hindrance.

The arrange/black label mode I've found alot more enjoyable than the original arcade mode, It just seems more cohesive and the altered bullet speeds and options really open up the game in a more interesting direction and make it alot more enjoyable.

How about we make a petition to stop talking about low res modes and filters? If someone could please close the old Ibara thread (PS2 Ibara announced), and split this one into Ibara discussion and Ibara filter/display discussion, that would be cool.

The thread is now split into two. GAMEPLAY-related discussion can continue here, while the lowres/highres/middleres-talk is to take place in this thread. The split wasn't perfect since a lot of people talked about both in their posts, so just try to deal with it.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

i may not love battle garegga. but after spending 3 hours with this game, this game kicks ass. Arrange mode is awesome. I like the 1 credit. This game is beautiful, no slowdown whatsoever(i noticed none)the graphics are superb. Yeah the debris was painful at first but i got used to it within an hour. Great job on cave for making a wonderful affordable port. Much better than the Espgaluda crap.

Okay, there's one difference between Black Label and Arrange (assuming your have 100-yen coins).

I've been meaning to ask about Practice mode...is it like Mushi's was (limited amount of lives, few settings, long load times), or has it improved at all?

What about the story booklet that comes with it?

Is it available only in limited quantities?

The load times piss me off, they are like mushi. There is even a loading screen between the intro (where your plane takes off) and the first level.

Yeah, couldn't they have loaded the intro up with the first stage? It's like, *start*, "now loading", *fly off the runway, pic of sisters*, "now loading"...

This sounds terrible. Small quibble for a great playing port though. Is there intentional slowdown like other Cave games? I noticed someone mention they didn't notice any slowdown. There's got to be some somewhere, at least towards the final stages?

And just to clarify on the "debris" (I may have missed a post in there somewhere), is this similar to Garegga? And if so, is there an option to change like in BG?

Also, is ranking system in effect?

If you can't tell, I never really read up on this game before the port dropping.

Very tempted to pick this up before I'd planned.

There is only slowdown when you juice a big pattern with x300s in arrange/black label, and it only lasts for a second.

Yeah it works fine on the hdd, but there are still significant loading times just like Mushihimesama. The only time it bothers me has already been mentioned -- the intro. The intro is pretty worthless, takes 10 seconds and should have been part of the first stage. However, it's ... Loading .. 10 second intro .. loading ... first stage.

I really suck at arcade mode. Getting to the third stage is very difficult for me. I like Battle Garrega too. I guess Ibara is just a lot more difficult. I think that the bullets in Ibara are a little easier to see than Garrega's. They glow purple which is easier to spot than gray.

Arrange is more Cave like, so it is much easier for me. I haven't spent too much time on arrange though.

Someone who has the pcb, is there slowdown? No slowdown in a port is not exactly a good thing...

From the few times I have played it, yeah. Stage 5 boss really comes to mind.

The arrange mode is not that hard, I've gotten to the stage 6 boss twice, and I'm not very good at shmups.

edit - is there any way to view high scores? For arcade mode you can just go into the attract, but for arrange it seems like the only way is to get a score worthy of the ranking chart.

About the slowdown, yeah there is slowdown on the stage 5 and 6 bosses. It's just hard to think and remember where there is slowdown because it feels natural, unlike PS2 Mushi. There was never a point where I thought "wow there should be slowdown here" or "why is there so much slowdown"?

Thanks Ghegs for splitting the threads.

A couple of game's questions:

(1) In Stage 1, I see that we could bomb the factory to make the medals show, but half of the time the factory just exposes after bomb without showing the medals, why? Have I missed something?

(2) It seems that in arcade mode tapping the fire button real fast(Hardware Auto Fire) would output higher firepower than keep holding down the fire button. Is it true?

(3) It is possible to control the position (not firing direction) of your gun pots when you pick up the gun pot power up? I found my first gun pot somtimes appear on the right, somtimes on the left...

When I pick up an gun pot power up I already got, sometimes it replace the a gun pot of a different type, sometimes it give me scores...

Any one know the rule?

No, the store I did the reservation did have it. :( Otherwise I would buy at least a half a dozen, since I know you guys would want it.

They appear when I bomb them in arrange. Maybe you are shooting them right after you let the bomb go and your shot is killing them?

I saw Icarus's post about the differences between ships in the old strategy thread and decided to find out how the speeds compare between the two players. I figured someone would find it useful.

P1 Type D [fastest]
P1 Type C
P1 Type A
P1 Type B [these two are]
P2 Type D [the same speed]
P2 Type C
P2 Type A
P2 Type B [slowest]

Yes there is slow down on the PCB. Especially toward the end of level 3 with the three trains and some of level 4. And the slowdown is definatley need I think.

So has anyone that picked up Black Label confirmed any differences between the two other than:

1: Display
2: The 1-credit only in Arrange mode?

Yes I think there's differences after reading the babeLfish translation, they have further tuned it for the arcade.
