I understand what you're saying, but I'm *pretty sure* that you get what I'm saying, also. I'd like my Akumajou Densetsu to magically transmogrify into Castlevania III, but sadly they are very distinct entities and I'm stuck with its pussy loop for now. Now, I do think it's good etiquette to list regional titles when discussing JP stuff, and I'll happily adopt the former if there are no major regional differences (see recent Contra III discussion in sidescroller thread). Perhaps it's more consideration than contemptuously butthurt tribalists deserve, but communication is paramount. ¦3
BTW, overseas titles that airbrush members of wider series into stand-alone games can eat a dick. Space Megaforce, Pocky & Rocky, River City Ransom, Lightening Force... might've made sense at the time but holy fuck, it's okay to drop the charade at this point.
Look: I use the correct title when necessary. I use "Goku Makaimura Kai" because, well...there *is no* such version in the US! There's no "Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins Kai" in the US, and there never will be!
You know the people I'm talking about: the ones who will correct you should you say "Jet Grind Radio", and they'll say, "Oh, did you mean 'Jet Set Radio'? That's the *real* title of the game..."

No, no we don't. Cause you're saying this on a forum full of generally nice people who are knowledgeable about games and tend to use those titles when appropriate. So it just comes off like you're calling us all pretentious assholes.boagman wrote: I understand what you're saying, but I'm *pretty sure* that you get what I'm saying, also. Orange, I was referring to this post, which was made long before the one you just quoted above.
This is what needed more clarity. The several irritated responses it provoked (before being clarified in a second post following them) were perfectly justified.
Saying this on a forum full of game collectors and connoisseurs (who frequently use the jp titles purely for pragmatic reasons) without any kind of distinction as to who you're really talking about is a good way of making them think your calling them a bunch of assholes.boagman wrote:Oh, I *agree*. Squire, he was poking fun at my *asterisks*. It's okay...I use them just for that purpose, to indicate how I'd be saying things verbally. I can laugh at my idiosyncrasies.Squire Grooktook wrote:Orange, I was referring to this post, which was made long before the one you just quoted above.

In all honesty no, I have absolutely no clue who you are talking about, I have never met that kind of people.boagman wrote:I'm *pretty sure* that you get what I'm saying, also. Are you absolutely sure that's not just some misguided conclusion you've come to based on some sort of prejudice? I don't understand why anyone would do what you describe, and what they'd hope to achieve. Maybe they just LIKE the Japanese title, and there is really nothing else to it?
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
I did figure, having posted here with you for many years - but like Squire said, this whole tangent was started by mr. orange's drive-by shitpost spray of innocent hobbyists. Sounds like a bunch of assholes! There's a lot of them out there. ;3 Can't recall seeing much of that around here, though. Last time someone really tried to be a knob-jockey about it, we got this timeless classic:You *know* the people that I'm talking about: they're so sure that throwing around some Japanese titles will make them appear very, very knowledgeable about All Things Video Games. Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Alright, first off I want to apologize for yesterday. The real reason I wanted to sell my BVM was because I had inadvertently burnt off a trace on the deflection card when trying to recap it due to poor soldering skills, and I feel bad every time I see it because I can't stop thinking that I damaged something so rare and valuable.
Anyway, today I was walking home from my first day back to school and listening to some Slayer, and some kid on a bike rode up to me and asked me if I wanted weed. I accepted, and he told me to friend him on Facebook and told me his name. When I got home, I looked up his name, found him, sent him a friend request, and PMed him about the offer. A few minutes later, I decided not to do it because I don't want to risk getting in (more) trouble just to get stoned.
What should I do?

So basically this is the standard atheistgod1999 post: "I did something that was dumb, and I don't really have any reason to tell you about it, but I'm going to anyway. By coincidence it seems like maybe it's a hot button issue for the forum. Also, I'm considering doing something bad. Should I do something bad?"
If you're building up to an exciting climax to your trolling career, count me out.
Beyond this distinct possibility, I'm not sure what you're looking for here. You do seem to have some awareness that some things are bad, so why you should ask us about that is beyond me. This isn't your personal help thread, after all!
And while this thread is indeed called "things that annoy the hell out of you," I think it would be good if you stopped with the public self-flagellation about things that you probably should have done but didn't. Everybody has those moments. It's sometimes not worth posting about them.
At least bees aren't wasps!

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
By the way, I didn't mean whether I should take up the offer or not (I already decided not to and I'm not changing my mind). I was just asking if I should do anything besides that. I was more or less just in shock that someone actually considered talking to me, let alone was selling weed. The "What should I do?" part wasn't really necessary, and I have no clue why I put that there.
Well, now I've gone full circle.

You've brushed off all the advice I've offered these past three months ever since you angrily said you'd rather work at Dunkin Donuts to save up for retro carts than go to summer camp, then cried to the heavens about why you don't have any friends.
You realized you've gone full circle and now you're ready for advice? Comb the old posts on this thread. Your situation hasn't changed and neither has the advice I already gave.
