Oh, neat. Guess I'll have to get to 2-1 to see that for myself. :pDespatche wrote:it's just the way stage 0 works, it's a bit of a joke: the "explosion" you see when you start a game is the stage 0 boss exploding.

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
Massive score improvement thanks to actually getting somewhere past 2-0. Learned to nail the double boss ko in stage 1 too.
One death in stage 6 before the boss, but thanks to knowing you can bomb his super scary second form (all those fast shots) and physically ram him for lots of damage resulted in a quick kill. Couple of deaths in 2-0 vs boss, loop went horribly because I learned the hard way that everything throws revenge shots at you DonPachi style (with the explosions producing shots). I hate revenge shots.
BKR - 6,810,087 - 2-3
Autofire makes this much more fun, but I notice that the speed you need to tap to max out the fire rate actually goes down as you power up. At max power, one tap fires a much longer volley of shots than at minimum. Hm. Still not cool though, autohotkey ftw.
Edit:

BKR - 7,155,109 - 2-4
It's really nasty having enemies launch bullets at you on death. Progear at least has 'em to help give you cancel fodder to boost your score, but so many silly hits here. There's sections where I'm thinking it's easier just to learn to play it pacifist in the second loop.

This is a really good game. I am Pretty impressed by this Japanese doujin software.

Yeah, especially enemies or bosses with multiplie exploding parts can catch you off guard. I hate those.BareknuckleRoo wrote: It's really nasty having enemies launch bullets at you on death.

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
First credit in a while since reinstalling my pc. So much progress, yet so frustrating. I went into the loop with a whole bunch of lives (this was at 2-2), and then lost a bunch in 2-6 and all the rest at 3-0. If you die at all in stage 6 or 0, things tend to steamroll over you quickly, not good at recovering in those stages... You get a WHOLE bunch of points and thus extra lives if you manage to stockpile them in the first loop thanks to the end of stage bonuses! I thought I could manage the clear this time... oh well.

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)

Any special tips for the Stage 6 boss? When he gets into his second form I start losing lives like crazy. I somehow managed to get to the 2-0 boss, but he did put me out of my misery

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
The stage 6 boss doesn't have much health in his second form. The trick is to get to his second form without dying, so that you're at max shot power, and stay as close as possible. The second form gives you plenty of time to get close and stay in front of it until it charges up and uses that high-speed attack (that's very telegraphed). By then, if you've hit it enough, it'll only take one or two more bombs to finish it off. The shots it fires when it uses the high speed spray has a bullet fired downward and gaps to the left and right, with the spray centered on the boss. So stay in front of the boss and tap just a bit to the side, so you can avoid it, and save the bombs for the more dense stuff immediately after.
Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)

Gave it another try. Good news is that strategy worked with the stage 6 boss, thanks BareKnuckleRoo, only losed a live there because of a fuck up on the first form that leaved me with no shield. Also improved my score a lot. Bad news is that the 2-0 boss destroyed me

The high speed attack of the st6 boss second form is completely aimed, just tap through it

Quite pleased with this. Ended with 3 lives, 1 bomb.
Windows doesn't like to take screenshots of this apparently. The screenshot would always be of the first few seconds of the game demo, even when I took multiple screenshots on the score screen. o_O
and now a youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36ATKyKrRMk

Ended when I not only paused accidentally, but then kept mashing like a fucking idiot and got an instant Game Over???
When I started a new game I could not reproduce that again. So hey, yet another undocumented feature discovered: PAUSE + any other button = GAME OVER on Loop 2 and above.

Unlike my previous score, this one's on the Windows version:
Shepardus - 16,641,143 - ALL

I'm very happy with this run, it was just 4-miss total (one on 2-4 boss, one on 3-0 boss, one on TLB's second phase, one on TLB's third phase). I'm especially surprised that I managed to get through the TLB's final phase with only one death and three bombs. The main area left for improvement is getting more triple powerups, of which I missed a lot, though there's also some points to be earned from scoring tricks like the secret phase on the stage 2 boss and the couple milkable patterns in the game.

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
I've just started playing this game, and it's awesome. Quick question: I'm sure many of you have seen this series of videos on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EnmYUf9L-4. Does this represent the world record high score on normal, or does it not qualify for some reason and the 22.x million score here is, or is there another score that only the CRS68k elites know about?! There is another, even higher score on Youtube, but that one is clearly tool-assisted. Equally, is there a higher hard-mode score than https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaU_VjZoB4M? I always like to know what the WR is/WRs are before i start playing a shmup - gives me something to aim for
. Thanks everyone!

Finally managed this. Had an awful end of loop 1, but managed to pull through loop 2. Finished the run with 0 extends and 1 bomb left in stock, truly a replay to cheer me up on a rainy day. I wonder what my score would have been if I hadn't pitifully botched the first loop, but there's no sense dwelling on it when I can use that time to improve. :3

The 24 million no miss on normal is by ZAP. And yes, that is the world record for normal.MaasBiolabs wrote:I've just started playing this game, and it's awesome. Congrats! I look forward to the write up and the video as I don't have much hard mode experience. On another note, this is the normal mode thread, and this is the hard mode thread but it hasn't been updated in over 4 years even though scores sometimes get posted there.MaasBiolabs wrote:New HARD MODE world record! 25,622,078, deathless (not hit-less), write-up and video coming soon!
Tyvm :3. In retrospect i'm surprised I was able to get past the TLB on my first legit try after maybe an hour of debug practice tops, I guess all the time spent watching 1CCs of CRS68K just familiarized the patterns for me to just squeeze through. When I come back to CRS68K i need to work on my survival, I could have had a cool 15 million if that first loop wasn't trash.Shepardus wrote:Congrats! \o/
