Funny stuff you find searching for game info

Post by mirkvid »

So I was browsing King of Fighters games on Amazon and came across this gem.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00RKUG7 ... ref=plSrch

I read a few pages of the sample, it's rediculous.

Ever find anything funny while searching for game info?

Tried to look up fan art for the game "Inside", on deviantart, was met with Inside Out art and vore.

I wound up finding some by asking for directions on the subreddit.

Tons of stuff, but right now I can only attach having watched the film Gunhed to having read the Wikipedia article about Compile shmup Gunhed (so hilariously unrelated to the film I wonder what could the story with that licence possibly have been).

Years ago, when I was playing a lot of DonPachi, I was searching for more information on it. As the full name only got me so far, I tried the acronym commonly used on this forum when discussing it. Was I in for a surprise when I found out that way what "DP" means to the rest of the internet.

While reading up on the sound capabilities of the GBA, I found some info about how the hardware actually makes the samples in the carts sound worse than originally intended. And of some efforts to reverse-engineer the playback with the un-fubar-ed samples.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

When searching for Dragon Blaze videos on YouTube I found that there's also a smartphone game called Dragon Blaze. Sometimes when I stream Dragon Blaze on Twitch I get people coming to my stream and saying "this isn't Dragon Blaze :(."

Shep/Blinge - That is kind of depressing.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

When people think of MAME, they probably think of cute, fluffy, kid-friendly old-school titles such as Ms. Pac-Man. The truth is that, among the gigantic amount of MAME ROMs, quite a few titles have lots of nudity, from Arkanoid clones with topless women through Qix clones with topless women and all the way to Puzzle Bobble clones with topless or more extremely unclothed women.

If you have kids (or even parents) who like playing puzzle games, you may not feel comfortable leaving them alone with your unsorted MAME ROM sets. Many of the ROM names don’t indicate that they cater to prurient interests. In fact, many have cutesy titles that attract the young. Sure, you could use existing frontends ( [Hack #11] ), but by fiddling with preferences, it’s possible to find masked ROMs again.
From another person:
I have had a couple instances where a mature game creates an awkward moment with my 7 year old daughter. It goes - hey, let's find a new game - that ones screenshot looks cool, let's try it - play a whole level without any indication of mature - finish the level - 'awarded' with a pic of a naked woman - awkwardness. I had this happen with a game (which I cannot remember it's name) where it seemed like a 'normal' tetris clone with bubbles/balls.
The sheer stupidity of this situation is enough to leave one speechless.

Would it kill you not to put every single game in the roms directory at the same time?

They're probably looking in the wrong place if they keep finding that kind of thing. :|

The GB b/w game X is a bear to search for. I did find it at a decent price on ebay, though.
