Some sites will just zip up the entire GoodNES set for a given game [so, good dumps, bad dumps, hacks].
In that case, you want the one with a "[!]" in the file name [which means it's the verified good dump], anything with "[h1]" or similar is definitely hacked.

Actually, shit -- check your ROMs with the GoodTools in general.
won't do shit for CD based systems [where dumping/verifying dumps is harder -- there are a lot of really, really bad Saturn dumps in particular, and early DC .CDIs are appallingly bad], but just about everything on cartridge can be verified pretty easily
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

What IS that computer of yours, allegedly unable to run NEStopia at full speed anyway? The type of CPU & amount of RAM please.

Yup. I've had the full GoodNES set sitting in my test folder for several years now, never encountered anything remotely odd with [!] stuff.

Even Naked Punch Out works fine and dandy! Though the sprite editing is kinda lame. Glass Joe's cock looks all fucked up during his intro, the shaft breaks up and the head flickers like crazy. What can you expect...

Besides, even if you get a bad rip of something expensive, what's the cost exactly? You could struggle for years buying costly carts/discs only to burn your house down like Chris Chan. Or a gigantic fuckoff sinkhole could randomly open up under the delivery van a block from your house and that's that. This is a harsh era for upstart collectors lacking disposable funds, but far from that for internet-savvy gamers willing to compromise a little. In your case, perhaps compromise means making do with rips for now, and getting legits later on when you've got more resources. Assuming you don't discover other, more conventionally adult vices by then and lose interest in this hobby! Only time will tell on that score! :O

Most important thing is to play some fucken games. 3: Lamenting on this forum won't do nothing. For originals, I second giving Bulk Slash a go, it's a joyously entertaining 3D arcade action game that's a cinch to dive into. Hyper Duel is technically a port, but the vastly smoother-handling Saturn mode annihilates MAME and will make Macross-loving Thunder Force fans cum rainbows. Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru is an idiosyncratic masterpiece of sidescrolling action ala 2010 Street Fighter and Alien Soldier, but like them takes adjusting to so FFS don't cry if you don't get it at first! Consult your fellow Ryukenden soldier's humble writings on the fine art of telekinetically-induced mass explosive rupturing. ;3

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think. Image

The first two panzer dragoon games are both still cheap and amazing. Despite the price of everything going up there are still quite a few great Saturn games which can be bought without breaking the bank. And for the rest, there is psuedosaturn.

I have quite a few SS games.

My most recent purchase was the P1k version of Outrun. I haven't loaded it up yet, but considering a new white saturn was about £60 shipped at the very least I thought paying a bit more for the game that would run on my newer Derby Stallion saturn was worth the purchase price.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Hold on a second. My random stock laptop has an Intel i5-3317u with 6 GB of RAM. It's struggled with DEmul, DeSmuME, bsnes-balanced, and even mGBA, but never Nestopia UE. Even my older Windows XP machine ran vanilla Nestopia at full speed seven or eight years ago. Are you telling me I have reason to doubt the authenticity of my emulation experience?
