Admins: fix that registration captcha

Post by starbird1975 »

The registration captcha is the most ridiculous captcha I have ever encountered so far,
utterly unreadable and I had to reroll so many times that I got blocked once. I wouldn't
be surprised if lots of people simply gave up when they couldn't read that visual chaos.
A website that successfully prevents users from participating is pointless. Please fix this.

Perhaps purposefully so? To gather only the most stubborn folk. Kind of like passing the driver licence test where I reside hardly ever happens at one's first attempt, yet people keep passing nonetheless.

The colors on this particular captcha system can be pretty hard to parse depending on your monitor. I just tried it a couple times (you can leave the registration fields blank and just answer the captcha and it'll still tell you whether you got it right or wrong) with about a 50% success rate. Pressing the refresh button doesn't seem to actually change the captcha but just alters the colors, which could help if you can only read part of it but need better contrast for the rest.

If you cant differentiate the colors on the captcha here, you have no hope finishing Garegga. Therefore you have no business here.

Obviously we need to abolish the captcha and have new members simply clear a level of Garegga to confirm they are human.

Which would actually be pretty cool.

And if they do too well, there's irrefutable evidence that they are not human.

In that case, simply make a shmup with a randomly-generated level. I think it would be harder to program something to clear that.
