Interest check - Shmup doujinshi

Online Print-On-Demand setups has made self-publishing easy and cost friendly so I was thinking of creating a shmup doujinshi if there was enough interest.

Also, what specific theme, characters, items would you like to see? These will be hand drawn works, no computer manipulation.

In terms of cost to the buyer, would $20, excluding shipping, be a reasonable price for about 20 pages? I'm looking to find the cheapest options online.

Finally, one idea I had was to make sections based on companies such as a Taito, Cave, Raizing section.

What do you think?

print on demand isn't a good idea for such a project, since standard offset printing is so much cheaper (per copy). You can do 500 pcs of a A5 40 page magazine (with heavier jacket pages) for about $500. Sell them at $10 and you only need to sell 50 copies to cover your costs, still leaving you with 450 copies. Quality's much better as well, since print on demand services are just color laser prints.

Ian's Pink Bullets mag was quite a success, so - given some proper content - you would have no problems selling those numbers.
