Fabtek's Raiden II and Raiden DX flyers are some of my favourites, not necessarily for their artwork (though both are nice) but the sheer brass bawls of their taglines. Now that's how you sell real estate!

I quite like the Toaplan posters too for tatsujin.
The image for Last-Resort is amazing - really 'Bladerunner' and I still really like it.

Side Arms, now there's one of my art picks. Utterly killer. Rugged, stylish mech designs backgrounded by an epic scene from the very heart of the genre. By Akiman, I think? edit: yep, seems so.

Sadly, I don't think the below Gun.Smoke piece was actually used for flyers, but I can't resist posting another genre-defining beauty from Capcom's pre-CPS years:

That Gun.Smoke picture looks way ahead of its time for Capcom.

Yeah, I've done a little googling to track down exactly where it's from / who drew it. Pretty sure I've seen all of Gun.Smoke's Japanese and US arcade flyers+instruction sheets, though I could be wrong. The Japanese arcade flyer & instructions can be seen here.

I wonder if it's from a later artbook/anthology.

The Gun.Smoke artwork posted above looks Art Nouveau as hell to me.

Seems to be a major preference (as it is my own), and I'm not surprised!

But what about that one?

Gradius III arcade. This poster is huge and absolutely gorgeous, with an insane level of detail. You really have to see it in person to appreciate it.

Expert or king...why not both? That's a bit of a head-scratcher even knowing the reference, it reminds me of

Honestly, most of the posters in this thread are pretty lame, I especially find Irem's airbrushed designs underwhelming. But for a real laugh, get a load of these two variants - they look out of the 70s. Pales in comparison to this kitsch masterwork though.

The original Darius poster is my favorite that comes to mind at the moment. Funny I'd be the one showing even older stuff, but I'm partial to Nichibutsu flyers (I think this does the theme of aliens best, and without being an obvious Alien ripoff). Namco's Bosconian flyer does "behind the controls" as well as anything since.

Probably total coincidence, but a couple specific elements (wangtastic monster, ship firing dual needle-focused lasers that terminate in big fireworks, perspectives on both) really remind me of Eliminate Down's sleeve art.

Yes, sort of thing you see on the covers of old SciFi novels from the 70s.

I have the Japanese version and had never seen the English text - you could put that happily on a Porno Film.

For real though, something about eliminate down really syncs with me, and I don't mean the strange kinky tentacle.

Sadly BIL (argh!) has already posted that one. How about a runner up, even though it has nothing to do with the ship you actually use, it's really smooth and even a bit realistic.

The Baraduke one looks like some really sick sci-fi film poster. Super good.
