Help out with MAME autofire

Post by Captain »

I've recently decided to update to the recent build. Currenly using mameuifx 0.174.

There's an autofire button in the settings. It even goes so far as to say when autofire is enabled or not.

However, there is no actual autofire option anywhere.

If there's any way to enable/add this, or if an updated build exists with working autofire, please help out.

(Already checked out some threads here and all I could find are suggestions for older builds that have it)

They moved the autofire option to "Cheats" menu a couple of official builds ago. Don't forget to switch on the enable cheat option first.

Ah.

This means you can't toggle autofire though, doesn't it.

Any fix?

If you mean toggle autofire on and off there's a key you can bind in the options under "User Interface"

There's no "custom button" support like there is in MAMEPlus, though, is there? I like to have separate buttons for autofire and no-autofire without the need to press a toggle button.

Nay. This means that you lose much control over it.

Thankfully, to my disbelief, the toggle key still works even though the actual autofire menu has switched places.

Well, at least its something.

Yeah me too. It's pretty much useless for most games the way it is now.

I use MAME Plus and Shmupmame and the autofire settings are saved in the cfg file per game where the controls for each game are saved. If you change the controls for a specific game, does it save those changes for you?

If you still have issues, I'd just use the latest MAME Plus build.
