Going back to the original question... Do you have space? If so, why not grab a low-res monitor for 240p content and run an upscaler for the 480i/p stuff?
This is what I'm doing now and really happy with it all. I've got all my 240p systems run to a PVM 2950Q, then the PS2, Xbox, Wii and DC run through a Crystalio to a modern LED/LCD.
But, in case I'm feeling the mood, I've got all RGB cables run to the same place, so also have an XRGB mini where I can run the 240p consoles to the LCD as well. Vice/versa as well as
I frequently run the PS2 to the PVM (always for the 240p titles). They are on perpendicular walls, so I have a chair that swivels between the two setups. Then, one amplifier with A/B
switching and they share a subwoofer. It was a long project (still evolving) but worth it. I've also got a Capcom Impress arcade next to all that. Will post pictures at some point when
it's organized and clean enough to take them.
That said, I always keep an eye out for other finds. I still do have my 34XBR950 (right before the HDMI model) which I purchased originally when they were new. I found a 30XBR960 for free as
well as a 14" Sony broadcast monitor and 14" PVM...both also free...that I use for testing. Picked up a 20" PVM a couple months back for about $20.
I'm on the east coast (US), so it's really hard to find these things. I see them in the LA area all the time, for somewhat obvious reasons. I've been looking for an XM29 for a long time and never
seen one for sale anywhere remotely close to me. Someday....
