Ridiculous. And still no Inbachi clear by anyone?

I do wish there was some sort of way to view the history of these scores - I can't remember what the previous best was, for example.

EDIT: Looks like he just barely missed a level 10 hyper at one point in stage 5 - wonder if that was intentional (carrying until later) or not, or if that even matters once he's hit the overflow. Looks like that Hibachi fight is still really tough for him - Rank 40+ is probably a big factor there of course.

Not in the arcade.

The JHA site is posting scores for each issue of Arcadia, so once they're finished you'll be able to see how the scores have progressed over the years. (BTW, the previous best for SDOJ C-E was 3.1 trillion).

Ah, I thought the last score was in the 3 tril range - good to know. Must have been before people worked the stage 3 overflow into their routes.

How does DBS have so many random WRs, especially fuckin grasshopper in garegga. I can't even get that high with a savestate.

Also it's pretty amazing how fast this thread is updated. It even has that score I posted about half a day ago.

Not only does he have a twitter, he has the best one: it's just a gallery of his world records.

It's my pleasure.

On a related note, folks don't have to post their new scores here in addition to the respective scoring threads because I do check every thread. But if you don't see your score up here after a few days, feel free to give me a heads up.

It's really wonderful how this community is full of pieces of [Edit: sorry]people with no respect at all towards the people who are way above them in their own hobby.
Just saw this. Just want to say most wr guys completely deserve any jokes that get made about them.

brb traveling to an arcade to pay money to play the game on ancient hardware and not giving a fuck about potentially far superior ports. (Thank TAC for that SDOJ input lag.)
brb showing replays so rarely it's treated as a huge event when it happens. And ostracizing people who share replays like it's no big deal
brb can't bothered to claim ownership of a wr that's way above what anyone else has done.

Just because a few arcade owners are nice enough to stream runs (but can't save that replay!) now that the genre is dead does nothing to change how toxic the whole arcade whore culture has been and continues to be for the overall hobby. Really, get a grip. Being good enough to get your name in a magazine 10 people read doesn't make someone a god.

Speaking of WR players worthy of worship, our own ProjectAKo has set another world record, this time in Shippu Mahou Daisakusen:

It would seem odd if the Japanese players don't know about the bug and Gemant might pop in here and say bug scores were disqualified from Gamest, but until then the score stands. Congrats!

In other words: one of ProjectAKo's WR required him to play the same game over and over and over again until a fish appears for massive points, the other one was achieved by using an invincibility bug? You're playing the wrong games, man. Congratulations nonetheless, and also once more for Kino for his WR in Cotton Boomerang!

And a few more things since I post already:

- ben.shinobi got a Thunder Blaster counterstop (9.999.990 points), the replay can be found here.

- saucykobold's triple monitor Darius II score is higher than Smraedis', Despatche accidentally switched the position on the scoreboard (see here).

- In case you want to add a few more replays, here're mine for BlaZeon, Gun Hohki, Air Buster, Gradius and Hellfire (looks like I got the highest score for the 1P version around here ).

- Would you be interested to add Section Z and Strike Gunner S.T.G? I can't find World Records on the page that ProjectAKo linked to earlier, but we also have a few other games on the list where there's no community or world score, so I thought I might ask. I'll dig around for a few other games, Heavy Unit for example is also missing.

Sometimes it ends very quickly, sometimes it seems to last forever. Not really sure. Anyway, it's a very disappointing score for me... It doesn't feel like the same achievement that the GMC guys did 15 years ago in this game. I have no idea if they knew about this bug themselves. It seems to happen about 10% of the time though, so they must have. Those guys must have seen it at least 50 times with how much they had played over the years.

I really just want to learn a game that isn't massively screwed up in some way. First mambo, and now this final boss glitch... Jesus.

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself, you earned that score. I bet that the GMC guys knew about the bug but would null runs that triggered it. You're still in shooting distance of the WR without it and I'd encourage you to go for a 2.2m bug-free run.
