I have a Gunlock board with a missing PAL could anyone with this board please look at the socketed chip near the edge connector shown here http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~luckins/pal.jpg and tell me what it says. Also I could do with the rating of the two capacitors on the rom board (one in each corner).
Hey,
My Rayforce is a different board than that, similar though. The only socketed chip on that area is near the edge of the board behind the heat sink.
It says
PAL 16L8BCN
33051M7 D
D49-12-1
My board also deosn't have the caps in the corners. Just a 220u 16v near the edge connector, and 4 1000u 16v in a clump by the heat sink.
One big sticker on the big ensoniq chip says "TAITO ESP REV 6"
The serial number of the board seems to be
K11J0775A
RAY FORCE
rtw, did you happen to buy that from starpine? I've seen him selling one w/ that layout. The one I just sold was the single PCB ver. I wonder if Taito was running low on a certain PCB ver. and modified their code to run on the other type?

No I bought it from a German gentleman. I suspect that this layout is close to what the F3 came to be. Basically the riser board is the cart.
I recently dug this out of storage where it has sat the last ten years (how time flys), unfortunately I am no closer to knowing the correct PAL. I tried the PAL dpful suggested above from another taito game but that made things worse. If anyone has the same board type as this one please could you let me know the markings on the missing PAL and also the two capacitor values on the rom board. This board is so close to being playable.

Well, we have on JAMMArcade the following dumps from Gunlock (ROM board PCB revision)
-D66-26 @IC22 on motherboard
-D66-05 @IC22 on ROM board
-D66-09 @IC3 on motherboard
So, we miss the one @IC62 on motherboard and maybe others too.Anyway, I can contact the original dumper (who is a great austrian collector friend on mine) and ask about.Stay tuned.
Ace wrote:Any news? just the markings might be enough as I might have the correct PAL on another Taito board or it might already be dumped.
Yes but not good news.Today my friend redumped all the PALs from his Gunlock board and some of them are secured, IC62 on motherboard is one of them.Sadly he doesn't have any way to read protected PLDs and he can't send me the chips.

I have a Gunlock here as well (it's just in storage so I need to find it), if you give me a few days I will try to dig it out and try to read the chip with my PAL reader
Note: might not happen this week, got too much happening in real life.
