Fuckin seriously. Everyone puts on their shitposting hat whenever there's a girl.

Maybe everyone on this forum had a bad experience concerning a girl and now they're afraid of the female sex. (See chum's post. Very insightful and important) Or maybe everyone here is gay and wants muscly men because they can't get aroused by anything else. Both scenarios would explain many things.

Again, I must point out to you, for the sake of accuracy, that I did not address a rude/offensive post to NickPalmerDegica. I made a post on the forum. Addressed to no one. At the end of which asked the following polite, non offensive, not remotely rude question directly to NickPalmerDegica.

Was this image of a female child and teddy bear, really necessary? I was looking forward to trying out this game but does buying it now make me a part of what is, in my opinion, the problem?

I don't see how having a cute girl with a teddy bear as a mascot turns the genre into a "schmoe friendly safe space," it's not like the genre's centered around being super gritty like the Dark Souls of military porn or something. There are shmups with all sorts of themes, even relatively recent games like Crimzon Clover if you're looking for spaceships and explosions. This one just happens to feature a young girl, among other characters, and I don't think that's something that's problematic or needs to be justified as "necessary" any more than flying spaceships and need to be justified.

If you do want a justification though, people tend to identify with characters so including and prominently featuring them is a pretty reasonable thing to do even if they just end up flying spaceships like they do in RefRain. It's largely the same deal as Mushihimesama.

Beyond that, the game is kind of interesting so far, despite being a little short even by five-stage standards. Part of the game's mechanisms involve firing several charges of your MEFA2 at bosses, then firing the CE to cancel bullets and turn them into shiny harmless destructibles, then charging the MEFA2 back up to unleash another barrage.

Notably, you can outright skip boss phases if you do enough damage at once at the right times; doing so nets a "Skip Bonus".

I can't speak for anyone else but girls aren't the issue for me.
I grew up playing with my older sister and her friends, I was combing the hair of my little ponies and dressing up barbie dolls during my formative years.
I love cutesy girly games with bright colours, I'd much rather play as a cute bunny than a big muscly tank with hairy conkers hanging off it.
Like I said, there's a big difference between cute and creepy.
