Wow....I didn't think that was going to turn into such a conversation.

In my experience, girls definitely (by a large margin) like games less so, than guys. I have even had numerous girls mention it to me, and how they didn't understand why grown men would play games.
Now, it seems that more women are playing games now. But it's still not much.

I mean, 95 percent of Steam accounts are male. The Wii U shop is 93 percent male. And I remember a study, that showed that about 95 percent of people that visited some VERY SJW gaming sites, were still male.

When I see these ads, I think they are going off the "52 percent of gamers are women" thing. And that is not a very accurate representation of things.

I guess I just see so much hostility towards men, who are the VAST majority of core gamers, and they are the ones keeping these folks (gaming outlets and everything else) in business.

I have no problem with women playing games. I doubt anyone does. I just recall getting lots of eye rolls, when I tried to get them to play.
Also, there was a post above that said that if you had the same access to games, despite your sex, you would play. My sister and I grew up together, and I constantly tried to get her play games. She only played the first SMB and Sonic. She just didn't care.

The media just really wants to act like women are some HUGE part of geek culture (games, comics, etc.), and it's not true. At the same time, they rag on men, constantly. Well, we're the ones who made geek culture...so whatever.

I may just have weird luck in that I run into a lot of female gamers, I don't really have the same experience. In fact I remember one of my older brothers old girlfriends playing games with me on the dreamcast when I was like 8-10.

I kinda find the wii u shop one funny since almost all of them I've met in person owned Nintendo products in particular. In fact those numbers seem weird to me when I consider that there are probably enough guys who set their profile to female to throw them off lol.

Then again, I've never had anyone look down on me for liking games, male or female, or express any disdain for the medium. What I tend to see is respect for the medium as a new frontier for creativity in art, music, fun, etc. Then again I haven't followed any game publications in years so eh. But in person or at school games are pretty well respected. So I really have no idea where you're coming from on any front. Maybe it's just a generational thing, but even my parents and older folks I know find games kinda fascinating.

I'm inclined to think even personality is determined by biology (anyone who has had a chance to observe small children already knows this), but what we are discussing here isn't personality, but a person's own fundamental nature. Yes, but being born in a family of musicians doesn't automatically make you a musical genius. Bach's family had been involved so heavily in music for so many generations that to say "Bach" was to say musician, but despite producing innumerable notable artists, it took a long time before a true genius was brought into their fold, purely out of a freak chance of nature. Bach was born to be what he was, he didn't became a genius because "society" made him into one. At best, society merely facilitated the flowering of his inborn potential, which in different circumstances might have remained latent, but which nonetheless would have still been the innate gift that it was.

A good example of this is football. In this country it's almost exclusively a sport for men. The few girls who play it are mocked and seen as tomboys and lesbians. They are expected to pick field hockey instead. So we have a powerful male team and an amateur female team (and, on the other hand, one of the strongest female field hockey teams in the world). Now look at the US, where this is the opposite. Men are expected to play "manly" sports such as American football, baseball, hockey or basketball, "soccer" seen as a feminine sport. Result, they have mediocre to bad male teams and strong female teams.

Ok, but how about we compare the performance of an all male football team versus an all female football team instead?

Does this still make sense nowadays, when physical strenght is less and less relevant (even when it comes to fighting)?

I'd rather go by what I see everyday. A fact is that lots of women play games on their cellphones. I see that everyday, no need for some half assed moneysink "scientifical" study to tell me otherwise.

I think something you guys are missing is that women in general (by social or biological cause is your own guess as I don't have any study) are much less interested in whatever hobby in general. I personally think it's simple evolutionary biology; men had to develop exceptional skill in certain areas in order to get laid/survive whereas women tended to be caretakers of the home and players of the manipulative community game.

In all of the different hobbies I've had that can be seen as "unisex" the general level of "nerdiness" is way way lower in the female demographic. Even in "acceptable" hobbies such as music creation.
Disregarding biology is retarded. They are after all the rules you as an individual have been given in this game we're all in right now. From a personal perspective I'd probably say biology is a bigger deciding factor than society on a persons behaviour/personality.
I was a stubborn little shit with disregard for anything but competence ("bullied" incompetent teachers) growing up and I sure as hell didn't learn this from anyone or anything other than myself.

One time I was talking to this girl, who was reading comics. I was like "wow", that's neat, as I read them too. She was looking through some old horror comic collection, and I'm like "who wrote it?". She just looks at me, almost mad, and goes "I don't have time for that shit. I don't give a fuck who wrote it.".

By NO means am I mentioning this story, to say this is what I think all women feel about hobbies. I know other girls who know the writers, and all that jazz. But it's a funny story.

HLD is pretty damn fun. Very fast paced combat and solid exploration. If you'd like a wordless, faster paced Zelda with fun dash happy combat, you'll enjoy it.

As I said before in the ticker, wall slamming an enemy with a dash attack and then shooting them full screen with the laser rifle is combo of the year 2016. Can't get tired of that.
