It didn't, the PCE game is P-47: The Freedom Fighter, which is a port of the arcade title P-47: The Phantom Fighter.

the craptacular Air Attack and S.S. Mission (both from Comad) are almost certainly exclusive too, even if they're derived from one of the NMK engines (probably Thunder Dragon) I think.

Twin Action, it's a hack of USSAF Mustang, but was released as a game in it's own right by Afega.
There's also Spectrum 2000 / Fire Hawk which basically seems to be the same engine as the Afega stuff (Spectrum 2000 is a very glitchy version of it tho) The exact history of that isn't really understood but ESD who put out the Fire Hawk version at least have some other recognized games.

bumping an old thread, but I believe you can add Philko's Lock On to this list..

yeah, it's a bad attempt to do a Carrier Air Wing style game, but to the best of my knowledge it was never ported anywhere.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NpyGXJT5IE

It's supported in MAME 0.172.

Is Sonic Wings Limited considered back-port (like Thunder Force AC)?

If you count Neo Geo MVS only releases then Prehistoric Isle 2 has never seen a home release.

Also, I'm pretty sure the original Darius has never seen a home release either.

There's a SuperGrafx port for 1941: Counter Attack, that's admittedly one piece of obscure hardware, though. As for Darius: I'd say that Darius Plus and Super Darius are exceptionally good conversions, albeit under a scanning electron microscope compared to the arcade original, of course.

Youjyuden did not receive any ports whatsoever as far as I'm aware. Some people might not count it as a shmup (it's a hybrid between automatically scrolling vertical stages and multi-directional stages à la Kiki Kaikai), but I certainly do. :P

1941 is on Capcom Classics Collection Vol.2 (PS2) as well, a straight emulation of the arcade game. Not the home release it deserved (interlaced, no TATE) but still quite serviceable.

I prefer the reworked yoko SGX version to CCC2, but I'm weird.

The FC Salamander is really a Life Force port.

A-Jax has a X68000 port.

Battle Bakraid Unlimited is just a bugfix+unlock version, it shouldn't have its own slot.

Ibara Kuro is a remake of PS2 Arrange, I don't think it should be here.

Macross II should be on here.

Viper Phase 1 New Version is not a US exclusive. The US releases of both are different from the Japan releases, current known difference is looping. Other releases might be different too. The Raiden Fighters games also have similar differences, and it is known that the Asian releases are based on but slightly different from the US releases.

This list kinda worries me because it considers wildly different conversions to be the same as straight ports.

A-Jax also has a DOS version, but it doesn't look like a good conversion. It even has PC Speaker music!

Thanks Despatche, I've added that to the notes.

Add Darius Extra Version, Darius Gaiden Extra Version, and G Darius Ver.2; arcade exclusive rebalances.

Add Dariusburst Another Chronicle. The EX version of the game has been released through Chronicle Saviors, but the original version is destined to be a MAME-only curiosity.

Dangun Feveron was just announced for PS4.

DeltaZeal is pretty much the same as G-Stream G2020, but with bugfixes. If that game belongs here, so does things like Shikigami no Shiro 1 and 2, which have bugfixed ports. Down that road lies only the madness of CAVE slowdown...

Hammer Away was never even released.

Trigon and Lightning Fighters have differences, but so do many of the games on this list. They're fundamentally the same game. Omega Fighter/Special is similar. There's not much point in giving updates separate slots unless either an older version or an update remained arcade-exclusive.

Nitpick: Macross II should have the "Super Dimension Fortress" bit like the first game does, and be placed in the Ss with the first game.

Nichibutsu's "Tatakae! (Fight on!) Big Fighter:"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xh5ds2Exh8

As far as I know, it was never ported to any consoles.

It's also not playable in Mame, because its security chip has not been dumped. Without the security chip's dump, it will not boot.

Yeah, it looks very dire. It's Tiertex bad. And Japanese PC owners had a good X68000 version at that time (although with vertical wobble, since apparently the whole viewport didn't quite fit on screen). Even C64 beats the PC version.

Like FC Salamander, NES Life Force is a Life Force Japanese arcade port.
Genesis Twin Cobra is actually Kyuukyoku Tiger. The USA twin arcade version of Fire Shark, which has no checkpoints in 1P, is exclusive. Mega Drive and even Genesis versions are both based on Same!Same!Same! (JP version).
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Edits:
- Ajax
+ Dariusburst Another Chronicle
+ Darius Extra Version
+ Darius Gaiden Extra Version
+ G Darius Ver.2
+ Super-X
+ Tatakae! (Fight on!) Big Fighter

Moved:
Macross II to Super Dimension Fortress Macross II

Combined into single entries:
Omega Fighter/Special
Trigon/Lightning Fighters

Notes added:
Dangun Feveron was just announced for PS4
Hammer Away was never even released.

Added to “Controversies"
The USA twin arcade version of Fire Shark, which has no checkpoints in 1P, is exclusive. Mega Drive and even Genesis versions are both based on Same!Same!Same! (JP version).
GStream2020 has an updated port in Delta Zeal (Shooting love anniversary)

No change made, because they were not listed as arcade exclusives (but let me know if I misunderstood):
Like FC Salamander, NES Life Force is a Life Force Japanese arcade port.
Genesis Twin Cobra is actually Kyuukyoku Tiger.

I could have sworn Juno First was on that GBA Konami arcade compilation (and that it was the best game on it), but apparently my memories are wrong? Time to get my ass to Mars.

It also has Scramble and Yie Ar Kung Fu. No Juno First. Juno First did get official ports to C64, MSX, and Atari 400/800/XL/XE computers. I have the Atari 800 version and it's a good port.

Activision Anthology for GBA has Beamrider. It plays different, but looks a bit like Juno First.
