GunSpike/CannonSpike All Clear Demonstration

Post by Kiken »

It's taken me 5 weeks to get down these patterns, and even then, there's still plenty of room for improvement. However, given that I know a couple of you out there enjoy this borderliner, I figured I'd post this replay that I captured on Saturday.

GunSpike All Clear: RockMan, 1758900 pts, Normal (189MB)

Please enjoy this demonstration.

Now you're making me feel so inferior after getting pwned so badly by this game. :(

I shall one-credit it one day, though. :)

Thanks for another very entertaining video Kiken; this rocks!

BTW, what controller were you using to play this game with? I'm still trying to find out how well DC shmups play with the DC analog stick.

This is what I was using... and in fact, what I predominantly use to play my DC games with (assuming they don't require analog):

^have you replaced any of the parts? if not, i can assume it works well given that you use it regularly.

i am skeptical given the price, but if its a good controller... instant joystick for gunbird 2, zg2, and cannon spike!
I have no sig whatsoever.

I bought 2 of them (they were so cheap, I figured why not) and have had no problems with any of the sticks or buttons. They're surprisingly well-made.. just very basic.

Thanks for that link, Kiken!

Have you ever used the "official" Dreamcast Joystick, like the one shown here:

I have one of those. They're awesome joysticks, if you don't mind the stick being a little "loose." I like the feeling, so I find it pretty much perfect, but if you like slightly stiffer joysticks, you might not enjoy it as much.

Note that joystick or no joystick, I do not have Kiken-like mad skills.

Neither do most mortals, myself included!

Thanks for the info on the official DC stick. The one Kiken recommends does look a lot smaller, and more comfortable.

I'd still like to know, however, how good the DC analog is for playing DC shmups. I am still quite surprised at being told that the Game Cube analog stick works well with shmups.

Many thanks, Kiken! That is a wonderful swoop. I did have a question, though: on the aligator stage, why do you not use the tornado on those ninjas that take alot of hits (not that your tactic wasn't effective enough, heh)?

If I ever get my lazy but into it, I'll be sure and try and host your vid on my Rockman/Megaman site :D

Mostly because the Tornado Hold has a very lengthy wind-up time and little range. I prefer the methodic repetition of the Rock Buster along with its splash damage when trying to keep enemies at bay and allowing for a quick escape.

I uploaded it to www.super-play.co.uk a couple of months ago. Just search for either my name or GunSpike.
