h265/x265 + amarec (or anything?)

Post by akumajo »

Hello,

Is there such a thing already ?
Of course it's possible to do it after recording but can we do it "directly" like we can do with x264 ?

Furthermore, is an i7 4770k@4GHz + 16Gb Ram enough ?

On same setup with x264 It use 30-33% CPU.

Thanks.

You would need a vfw (video for windows) version. As far as I know that does not yet exist for x265.

So whats the advantage of using 265 over 264?, i was under the impression that encoding times are double??

The advantage is that filesizes are smaller for the same quality. It's mostly useful for 4K resolution or higher.
