Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Can someone tell me what the "2016.1.14 Release" date at the top of the page (on the website) is referencing?

The Japanese release date.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Well, I hope Degica can make it happen. I'm more than eager to DLC up this wonderful game.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
If Legend's hard for you to control, try Next. Next's fixed burst spins faster than Legend's and it rotates to point towards you rather than away from you, which I find more intuitive. You just press the fixed burst button (or double-tap the burst button) while moving in the direction you want the fixed burst to face. I found it easier to learn Legend after I had gotten used to Next since it was simply a matter of reversing all directions.xxx1993 wrote:Tried doing that... To change the direction it's aiming in, let go of the shot button, and the fixed burst will rotate to point away from your ship.

I wonder how much each DLC will cost. $20? $40?

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
$40 would definitely be considered way too high by a lot of players. That's equal to the cost of the game on one of the platforms and most of the cost of the game on the others.
$20 may also be pushing it a bit depending on how much DLC is planned. I have no idea what sort of price would be reasonable since I'm not sure what's going to be coming as DLC. Also remember that on the consoles that DLC pretty much never goes on sale for anything, just the games themselves tend to go on sale, and even that is rare.

I find that, in practice, the way Legend and Next use fixed burst is actually really different.Shepardus wrote:If Legend's hard for you to control, try Next. Legend's makes more sense to use as an offensive weapon against specific targets, since it means putting the burst between you and the thing you want to shoot at. Next's makes more sense as a general defensive tool, since the wall it creates protects the ship with less movement needed after it's placed, and also because you can put it closer to the top or bottom of the screen for maximum coverage.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
RayForce and Metal Black DLC?!?

The pricing depends on how much stuff they put in. Can't include a whole lot of stuff from a 5/6 stage shmup, but knowing CS mode, there'll be a lot of levels. Anyway, a small season pass with these three planned DLCs, or just one DLC, IDK, priced at 10, 15$ would be fine for me. Anything higher would be too much for anyone.
Not that it doesn't deserve all the money in the world.

Anyways I'm hype for DBCS dlc even though I never played any of those games lol
I'm always eager for new ways to waste money uwu
I used to think that too until I realized Next's is still better in almost every situation. Also you can place Legend's Fixed Burst anywhere and still create a wall, you just need to face the other way sometimes. In the PSP version since you couldn't turn, it couldn't be placed on the very bottom and be angled straight up.Obscura wrote:I find that, in practice, the way Legend and Next use fixed burst is actually really different.

As scary a thought as it may be, $40 DLC for a $60 shmup isn't as silly as it seems. People didn't expect DB:CS to cost so much when it was first announced, after all. Plus, look at the insanity that is the DLC for Dead Or Alive 5 on Steam. So yeah, it wouldn't shock me all that much.Steelix100 wrote:lol $40 dlc for a shmupThe Coop wrote:I wonder how much each DLC will cost. $20? $40?

I hope like hell it's not that expensive, though. That would be pure insanity.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I'm not worried about the price tag, but rather about whether the price-to-value will be good. I'd drop 40 bucks if I got another CS-like map with extra stuff, bosses and so on.The Coop wrote:As scary a thought as it may be, $40 DLC for a $60 shmup isn't as silly as it seems. But a closer look at what's on offer would be appreciated.

I actually did try Next, actually... And I managed to beat Gigantic Bite with it.Shepardus wrote:If Legend's hard for you to control, try Next. Inb4 dlc from Bubble Bobble and New Zealand Story.
Jokes aside, it's really cool that Taito still remember their old games. Would be cool to have stuff from Grid Seeker and Gun Frontier as well.

When Azure Nightmare sends out that annoying blue globe, it reminds me of Metal Black. It would be cool if Black Fly could bounce that thing back and the beam duels worked exactly the same.
If they're modeling new ships for DLC then they should fix the Genesis.

Should have an official EN announcement for this in the next few days with some more details. Hype for Rayforce and Metal Black!
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I wonder if this will be like the DLC for Space Invaders Infinity Gene. That also had stuff from Rayforce and Metal Black.

OH GOD WHAT
All jokes aside, something like a $20~25 sum for all DBCSDLC doesn't seem too farfetched to me. I prolly wouldn't have too much of a problem dropping that kinda cash for DBCS dlc (I already spent almost twice that on Smash 4 dlc and I hate that game so), but would other people as well?

Eh, I've heard cheesier from Shohei Tsuchiya. Just play Groove Coaster and enjoy scatting and punk arrangements of Silent Night.CptRansom wrote:Could always turn the music to 0, leave the SE up, and then play whatever you want. I love the music, but I understand it isn't for everyone, and it certainly isn'ta top reason to enjoy the game.

I should start using the non-burst ships more... it's hard because using burst is so fun.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
There's certainly better people to give advice, but from what I remember from my fight with Gaiden:Magma Dragoon wrote:WHAT THE HELL GTV. HOW DO I BEAT THIS THING?
The first part is just dodging with the understanding that you can't try to dodge just above the center gap in the red bullets.
The second part is just finding a way to get to the bottom of the screen after GTV fires its big laser. Then moving back and forth to dodge purple lasers and those aimed canister bullets.
Third section, I usually end up dodging in circles - picture yourself at the bottom point of a circle, and dodge clockwise from there. Not a perfect circle, but that seems to be the general shape of my movements here.
I think it then repeats the first pattern.
Fourth, sit at the top of the screen. You'll have to dodge a couple bullets at first (I just dropped a bomb to block them and do damage - plenty of time to recharge), but then you'll be completely safe to pointblank GTV while his burst laser is firing.
There's QUZ videos on youtube and/or Steam that you can look at too - there's at least one No Damage video on Steam.
I think it repeats the first pattern again.
Laser time! I end up killing it here - if you're less aggressive with dealing damage you might have to actually fight this. IIRC it throws out those lasers that do a 90 degree turn when you pass over/under them. Not too complicated as long as you don't lose your head.
After that - I know he does something. I've never fought GTV past this point. :3

Made it up to Gigantic Bite. What's the deal with his cannon that makes an explosion somewhere on screen.

IIRC, blue is short range and green is mid-range (can't remember if there's a long-range shot/color). You can see where it's aiming, and you should have a good enough estimate of where it'll be to avoid it after a couple rounds.

That cannon never gave me any trouble (not that I could defeat Gigantic Bite easily, anyways), but I just always avoided the canon completely (never let it align with me), and almost never got hit by it.Squire Grooktook wrote:Made it up to Gigantic Bite. I dunno why everyone seems to think it's such a big deal, just treat it like a big fat laser and you're good to go

Anybody gotten their physical copy for the Vita yet? I'm still chomping at the bit waiting for mine.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Golden Ruler is by far the WORST boss I've ever encountered in any Darius game, period. That boss has literally no memorization or strategy, it's very hard to counter-burst it because it keeps jerking around too much, and most of its attacks are hard to dodge since they look like they belong in a CAVE or Touhou game than a Darius game. That boss is the farthest I could go using the preset ship in the final mission of the game. I'm telling you, you'd have to have a death wish to fight a boss like that. I'm already hating this boss even more than Phantom Castle, Great Thing, G.T.V., and Dark Flame. The only good thing about the boss is the music.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
The book's translated, right?January 14th, 2016: The PC version of DBCS will receive the previously PS4-exclusive DLC, the Darius Odyssey art book, for $14.99 USD. It will be available in a compilation with the base game for $59.99 USD as well.
Three DLC packs based on the classic Taito games RayForce, Night Striker, and Metal Black will be launched for all versions of DBCS. Each pack will include a new ship, unique levels, and remixed music from the game it’s based on. The new levels play similarly to CS mode (in 16:9 aspect ratio) and the DLC ships are only usable in the DLC levels. However, ships from the base game can be used in the DLC levels.
