What should I do with my PS3 retro game ports/remasters?

Post by atheistgod1999 »

Before I started retro gaming at the beginning of this year, I bought a lot of retro games (all PS2 games with one exception) as PS3 ports. Luckily, I didn't open most of them (I don't want to have too many unfinished games at once) so I sold them on eBay once I started retro gaming. I sold one collection I already started playing: the Tomb Raider collection because I wanted to play the original game on PS1 instead of the Anniversary version. I still have started and not finished the Ratchet and Clank collection, though (somewhere in the first game, far enough to not want to start over), and I already have the PS2 version of the first game in my house, though. I'm not sure about starting over with the PS2 version, because A. I already have made a good amount of progress in the remaster and B. it will show on my PSN profile that I didn't finish the game based on the trophies. I think there's a little input lag in R&C PS3, though. It'll also look bad on my page on PSNProfiles (If anyone's wondering, my PSN is bostongamr). Another game I have started playing is the DOOM 3 BFG Edition collection. I am somewhere in the second episode of DOOM 1. It's a much older game, so I'm more worried about that. I don't exactly feel much input lag, but I'd rather play it in the correct (non-upscaled) resolution on my DELL PC CRT with a Windows 98 computer (or at least DOSBOX on Windows 7 because I guess PC emulation is better?), but I'm not sure about that either for the same reasons as Ratchet and Clank. What should I do?

They're over a decade old and from two console generations ago, retro enough I'd say.

Drink a gallon of Mt. Dew and just burn through this shit. Ratchet and Clanks shouldn't take make than a couple days.

Play the games you've got before your backlog grows too expansive for comfort (with PS2 titles it'll be soon).

Sorry for reviving an ancient thread, but I forgot about one game: Kingdom Hearts 1.5 REmix. I beat the Alice in Wonderland and Tarzan stages in that already; should I discard that and switch to PS2 for that? What's nice about that remake is that it's actually 1080p, so there's less input lag on the HDTV of the same resolution my PS3 is hooked up to.

Why would anyone here have any opinion anyways?

I don't see why anyone would play the original release of a game if a remastered version exists, unless it's inferior in some way (like the Silent Hill collection). Bad remasters seem to be the exception, though.

And what the hell, Tomb Raider Anniversary is 10x better than the original. But it's a remake, not a remaster.

I think you you should have a sacrilege offering by burning them, in order to gain favor with SJWs.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
