Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
Should we post issues with the scoreboards here?
Here's a few I know off the top of my head since I've been playing a ton of the SNES games.
SNES:
D-Force (Dimension Force) - Not in game list
Darius Twin - Not in game list
Area 88/Un Squadron - Gamer difficulty is not an option, only has easy/normal/hard
Raiden Densetsu/Raiden Trad - Scoring is entirely different between the Super Famicom and SNES versions, should be separated.
Sonic Wings/Aerofighers - The US version (Aerofighters) does not have a second loop, Sonic Wings does, so they should probably be seperated. Also missing most of the characters that are playable (there are a total of 10 ships, you get different characters depending on if you are playing as player 1 or player 2, it's missing all the player 2 ships). Also, I believe if you select Rabio or Lepus you get to play all 8 levels instead of only 7.

Sure, issues are welcome here. I try to pull things together by scraping the forums, youtube, etc but there's a limit to how much I can do with any sort of efficiency so I appreciate people who have first-hand experience with these games being able to make corrections.
Darius Twin is totally there. It was added earlier today.
I can work on the rest and make the Raiden IV fixes tomorrow.

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
There's a character limit on comments which is understandable for formatting (and people who are way too wordy, case in point: me), but is it possible to display the character limit/how many characters remaining for comments? It doesn't seem to show it when entering comments.
Cool site, it's a nifty way of storing scores.

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
I'm sure there's a way to display remaining characters. I can't give an ETA on that (bad at web design) but I can dig around google sometime in the next couple of days.
I sent you a question about Sonic Wings and I've still got a bit to do on D-Force, but the rest of these should be done along with the Raiden IV stuff (Overdrive's non-Overdrive modes have been removed and a PS3 option has been added under the main game's Arcade/X360 modes).pegboy wrote:Should we post issues with the scoreboards here?

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
Hey CSF, the Nexzr table is creating a duplicate entry.
In fact, I already had a score there but it wasn't showing up, then I filed a new one.
There were two.
Then I deleted one of them and both were gone, and upon filing it again two were recreated (one as CLEAR and the other as ALL).
Xenon 2 on the MD has 4 stages, not 6

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
I've also noticed that some games seem to be broken down into scores for each difficulty while others are not. For instance, Gradius III (SNES) does not have scoreboards for each difficulty while other games (like Area 88 and Axelay) do have different boards. Is there some criteria for having different boards?

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
I think I know what's causing this. There's two issues - I have Nexzr added twice (will need to figure out if the original and Special versions actually need to be separate games) and I think you've entered on both. Once the system sees that you have a score entered for a specific game it recognizes the one already posted to the OTHER title and pulls it in as well because it recognizes that they're essentially the same score. This is why one is ALL and the other is Clear - each Nexzr entry has a difficult clear label because IIRC there's no scoreboard in-game that has a clear label so I assigned them on a whim.Kollision wrote:Hey CSF, the Nexzr table is creating a duplicate entry.

I'll work on getting it straightened out.

For console games, I've tended towards giving all the difficulty options where reasonable. (for example, I've cropped down MOSS's silly difficulty selections would have resulted in dozens of empty boards if I'd included literally every option) Gradius III was added fairly early on in the process and my guess is I either didn't realize it had difficulty options or hadn't made a rule for myself about how I would set these things up. I can easily add the other difficulty levels.I've also noticed that some games seem to be broken down into scores for each difficulty while others are not. (I've probably said this before, but difficulty selection are one of the things I thought about when making the site - maintaining them manually would be a pain, but if it's automated, why not?)
EDIT: I expanded Gradius III SNES's modes to include all the difficulty settings. Let me know if there are other titles I need to do this to. Thanks!

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
I thought I could be clever and counterstop Guardic Gaiden at the first boss by weighing down the fire button and leaving it on all night (there's a spot where you can sit and 2-3 turrets will fire at you without being able to hit you, you can shoot down their shots). I forgot to account for the spawned items and made an interesting SHMUP SCIENCE discovery - the game apparently stops producing enemy bullets if there's too many items sitting on the ground at once, and since the screen doesn't scroll during the first boss, the items that are produced will never vanish unless picked up. Guess it has to be done the hard way.

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
Nice to see Ultimate added for Raiden IV Overkill. I actually haven't played Ultimate difficulty on that yet, only a bit on 360 Mode which is still missing the option.
So I spent some time playing Vulgus earlier and very quickly 1-All'd it and submitted the score. Then while trying to improve on it, I couldn't get things to go right again. Submitted my current score though.
Need to put in the Namco Arcade compilation disc soon to access Xevious XBLA then check my score from that. As well as get something in for Raiden IV Overkill mode even though I'm not practiced on that mode any(I prefer the Arcade and 360/Additional mode scoring)
Also Legendary Wings seems to be missing the Arcade version for some reason on the site. Not that i have anything to submit for it, but I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be there. I credit fed through that one earlier on the CapCom Arcade Cabinet release and this version at least seems to be a looping game, though I don't know if there's a limit on it or if it's infinite.

Legendary Wings arcade is missing because it's a hybrid - half the game is a sidescroller similar to Mega Man. IIRC the Famicom version swaps before vert and hori shmup.

I've got this fixed. Will still need to figure out why I've got two Nexzrs, but the bug itself is resolved.Kollision wrote:Hey CSF, the Nexzr table is creating a duplicate entry.

Reminder to everyone who's interested, there's still seven hours to get your entries in. Reminder for those who never read the last page:
Here's the list of games you guys don't love. Yet.
Every score submitted for these games between now and 11:59 PM CST on June 28th will be be an entry into a drawing to win a gift of one of these Steam games:
Crimzon Clover: World Ignition
eXceed Collection (three games)
Astebreed
Gundemonium Collection (three games)
Danmaku Unlimited 2
I'll draw and contact people one at a time in the order they were drawn: first person gets to chose his or her game, then the second will get to chose from the remaining titles, etc.

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
Exceed 1 seems to be missing entirely. Haven't cleared it yet but got to Stage 5 boss final attack once, so I'm close.
Exceed 2nd Vampire Rex is missing Exceed Difficulty.
I'm not sure how Ikaruga Prototype originally worked, but the 360 version has Prototype Mode available for all 3 difficulties, not just as one mode. I'm guessing this is the same for the Steam version?

I noticed REX was missing Exceed a few days ago. Will get that fixed.
I don't remember much about pre- 360 Ikaruga, but the scoreboard here only has one Prototype board. Can anyone confirm this was an addition to the X360 port? Is the old Prototype equivalent to Normal difficulty?

Double Spoiler has an issue with the Hatate board.
Hatate does not get the spoiler scenes, so she should get the clear star at 99 scenes cleared, not 108 like Aya does.

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
Oh, I need a score moved if possible (or just deleted so I can resubmit under the proper mode), but preferably just moved if possible.
Raiden IV's ports have World Ranking default to Normal instead of Original for the Arcade mode. I didn't realize this, and it may be possible that a few of the other scores also didn't since I thought it was using Normal for 360/Additional and Overkill while using Original specifically for Arcade. I didn't really take the game seriously on 360, but that version also has the same issue.
As such, the 29,210,880 I submitted to the Arcade Original board should be under the Arcade- Normal board(my other submitted score for arcade was also played on World Ranking so would have belonged there too).
Any future attempts at the game for Arcade Mode will be done on Original Mode, but I'd like this corrected on the site.

Fixed. There is a way to edit scores - on the game's scoreboard you can click on the entry date to bring up your score history for that board, where you can choose to edit or delete an entry. It needs to be more obvious, I don't know if anyone really knows you can do it.
I've also made sure to update the Eschatos, JSS/CS, and Raiden IV boards to allow entries from people playing the Steam releases.

Re: Restart Syndrome - High Score Boards
I've been playing around with images lately and put together a mockup for a sig badge of some sort:

Obviously this is far too ugly for anyone to ever use, but I'm just kind of tickled to figure it out. I've been kicking around ideas for things to put in the white space (wouldn't it be nice to have some sort of badge system and let people display their favorite badge? I may be spending too much time on Steam) but I think that's far, far in the future. In the meantime I'll try to figure out a real design for it. Any feedback would be welcome, too.
I've also toyed with making image outputs of the scoreboards themselves. I'm not sure what the purpose for that would be but the French shmup site does it and I'm quite impressed with how they use it - I just want to do it to have them in my back pocket.

Just letting you know, your Mecha Ritz board doesn't have an option for fighter 00. Not that it's any good for scoring, though.

Bug report: when you edit an existing score record, the Platform box is empty and has no options in it. You can still submit the form, it just results in a blank Platform field, which I think otherwise isn't possible. Seems to affect all games/modes as far as I can tell.

Hey CStarFlare, think you can add the game TWilight INSanity to your website, restartsyndrome, if that's possible? I would like to add what I got for TWilight INSanity over there. I can tell you what to put in for there, if you need me to, like the routes, stages, playable characters and their names, etc. You can also save replays on that game, too, as well.
Also, I would like to change my name from PurpleTheGuy to VioletHatPurple at restartsyndrome, if that's also possible to do.
Thanks in-advance!

Greetings!
I came here to report an error (a bug?) that happened with me. I'm not able to update my Astebreed score for some unknown reason. I enter the ship, the stage, the score, the comment and the picture link and all I get is a white screen and a "could not add to database" as the page title.

Strange - I just tried entering the score you've got in your sig and didn't have any problems. Can you send me a quick PM with exactly what you're trying to enter that is getting rejected? If I can diagnose the issue I can fix it; otherwise I can manually add your score to the database. Sorry for the trouble.
