TRANSITION 2015: multi-dev STG event in Tokyo on 26/12

Hosted by Degica, this is a free event to promote the "transition" of STG developers to PC as a sustainable source of income; it'll include free exhibitions of STGs currently available for PC, as well as score attack competitions and panels with various STG devs.

Thanks, I saw this on Twitter and was wondering what it was all about. Too bad there's apparently no CC:WI and Yotsubane there, as that's still my favorite of Degica's releases, nor is there Taito/Pyramid w/ DBCS. I'm surprised to see Treasure and Ikaruga there, I wonder if they have any plans for Radiant Silvergun on PC...

NTSC-J: You know STGs are in trouble when you have threads on how to introduce them to a wider audience and get more people playing followed by threads on how to get its hardcore fan base to play them, too.

Maaaan, wish you guys could've done it on the 27th, which is when I arrive to Japan. Would've loved to attend...

Another echo for Radiant Silvergun, Caladrius and CAVE's next port. Maybe we can get confirmation or some slight hope that Raiden V will eventually make it to the comp too.

I'm not, they started the whole Steam migration thing after all.
They should definitely be announcing something, it's been a good while since they mentioned the possibility of making a new game for Steam and not just a port.

Good stuff. :) Obviously your focus here is on professional developers, but in the back of my head I wonder whether inviting a handful of doujin outfits into the mix would bear additional fruit; obviously their circumstances are quite different from those of established companies, but if nothing else they've been joined at the hip to the PC platform for years and have some experience to draw from to that end. In any event, I hope this get-together goes well! :)

This is what I hope to see more of. Ports of games that I already own are nice and all, but I want new stuff like CCWI and Darius. (SDOJ with a fixed Score Attack mode would be good tho.)

Nothing better than lining up for a few hours to play ports of games at an arcade that already has those exact same games all-year round. Counting the days already!

Seriously, it's great to see an STG event in Japan no matter what it's for, but I really hope they show something new.

Please find out who owns the rights to the Toaplan library now. I'd very much like to see "Shooting Battle Vol. 2" on Steam.

Essentially, this event is a forum for most major shmup developers to discuss the future of the genre, and to discuss new ideas for creating exciting shmups on the PC platform. It's a significant industry event and something we've been building to for most of this year. A lot of developers like CAVE, G.Rev, Moss, Qute, Taito, Triangle Service, and so on will either attend or sponsor the event.

The event runs 12/26 and is open to the public, so if you happen to be in Tokyo, please drop by and play some games!

Why is DotEmu not invited? They have greatly contributed to shmups on PC. :roll:

Cave says on facebook that they will announce their next steam title during this event. Pretty cool.

Two of the confirmed interviews include a DBCS interview with several members of Pyramid/Zuntata, as well as a a joint interview with Fujino from Triangle Service and Yonezawa from Qute.
