Yeah, it's actually kind of annoying to get up to him with basically no effort at all, then get hit by a few of his attacks that ignore shields (I guess -- honestly, the shield confuses me in this game) and that's gg no re. Though honestly I'd say it's the "get to him with no effort" part that bugs me the most.
I think I might just stop playing the ships with the deployable laser pod, because honestly that thing is fucking broken. Like, if anythings shoots at you frequently enough, you can just put up a wall and it'll just sit there and block everything indefinitely. Well, okay, not EVERYTHING, but enough things to make an utter joke out of a lot of things that were already relatively easy.
Granted, I say that, but then there are some spots of level design on the harder routes where I have no idea how you'd get through without the thing...
@kane: Honestly I kind of agree with most of those points, for now anyways. I didn't have high hopes for how they would achieve the ridiculous 200/3000 stage numbers, but I didn't quite expect it to be wholesale copy-pasta to this degree. I mean, G-Darius was a completely linear experience, and it had alternate sets of attack patterns for every boss depending on your subroute, and even Crimson Clover has variations on boss patterns between difficulty modes and rank (especially in Boost mode). So far as I can tell, when you refight a boss in this game, it's literally the exact same thing every time.
e: Wasn't there a mode in the arcade game where you could play all the stages in a row?
