I have a question: does the test version have keyboard rebinding and if yes can you rebind movement keys?

I don't think it's locked in strania, 720p looks more blurry than 1080p. You can go into game and change between resolutions on the fly, just pause at the moment when your character (or an enemy) is at the right or left side of the screen so the menu won't block the view of it and change from 720 to 1080 a few times. Like i said for me they don't look the same, 720 is blurry. They simply didn't made a high resolution textures.
No I think it probably is locked. Open both of these images at the same zoom level and compare.

The aliasing and everything is identical. There should be less if it was actually rendered at a higher res.

Well, it's better to use png for comparison shots as far as i know. And i don't know what is the correct method to do a resizing. Yeah, aliasing is the same but 720p is a little blurred (maybe a resising problem, maybe not). Also when i tested it a little, the difference was more obvious on enemies and player character, not backgrounds. Hard to tell if it's locked or not, we should call the expert in these things. Edit: ok, the fact that aliasing is the same is strange, maybe it really is locked and the fact that it looks a bit blurier in 720p resolution on my pc is caused by some other factor.

I reported the lack of anti-aliasing and graphical config options, which should really be also within the game, not just on an external config if possible. For Big Picture Mode users that means going back to the keyboard/mouse. Not a big problem if they are wireless but still, it can be bothersome. Lack of AA is a big problem though. Dem jaggies...

Anyway, just tried this on dual screens and holy shit it's an entirely different game!

I feel a bit overwhelmed at the amount of modes and things. This is the definitive version of Darius Burst, right? It feels like it had dozens of iterations.

edit: Alright, I seeded the Darius Burst community hub with some 3200x1080 screenshots. Steam's jpg compression is a nightmare, argh.

I'm in love with this game. Freaking awesome and I never thought I would see the day these would come to PC. More and more it's becoming the schmukmup platform this gen along with the historical amount of doujin/indie STGs.

Chronicle Saviours sure has that R-Type Final feeling about it with all the ships of the previous games included. But I do hope it is not the last Darius game.

The game is indeed translated, with a good number of different languages, although some of the instruction cards displayed during AC's loading screens (arcade mode) are still in Japanese. The instructions displayed in AC's attract sequence are translated however.

Just something random I noticed on the steam page:

Image

This is the ship from GDarius. I know the 'Genesis' is in the game, but it uses the same gfx as the Origin and the profile on the official website just uses a recoloured picture of the Origin. So this struck me as odd - unless they fixed the gfx??

The new boss Azure Nightmare is amazing ingame. It's fairly difficult to find in CS mode but so worth it. The BGM..

Ingame graphics for Genesis are still the same as Origin/Second. Just a quirk of that promo image.

If The Embryon is not the final boss of CS mode, after all the teasing throughout the entire DariusBurst saga, I'd be pretty angry.
If not, at least a brand new boss, I don't want yet another recoloring of Great Thing. What now, G.T.P? Do we want a pink G.T.?

That boss isn't the final mission. Pyramid might be clever enough that there are secret bosses or variants not listed in achievements. Most achievements are for the base variant anyway. I haven't heard ~4 of the new songs in the OST anywhere. Perhaps special stages at the very end of CS mode?

That thing looks out of this world. Great call to make a darius boss based on it.

Post your completed save file when you're done please :P

We should try to organise a way to complete those Chronicle missions that require 2+ players. I feel those could be locked for a long time without some people stepping up and knocking them out.

Any shmupmeets coming up? :P

Edit: or, is there any software that would allow us to map multiple keyboard inputs to our 1P controls?

You'll want to buy it from the US store to save money, the EU and especially UK ones take too many liberties with the exchange rate.

I'm holding out until the Japanese release in case there's a chance that they change their mind and do actually release a physical one for PS4.

At the bottom of the article it says:
Translation Note: Previously, the main enemy in the Darius series was translated as “Belser”. Since the release of the original DariusBurst on the PSP, this has been instead been written in English as “Belsar”. The latter is a more accurate translation of the Japanese and as such is used here.
So I guess Belsar? Though Wikipedia still uses Belser.

This game is looking fantastic, shmups aren't usually known for their amount of content but this looks like it would last anyone a long time, and stuff like Azure Nightmare shows that it's quality content too.

Scramble Formation apparently. The Murakumo is useful when your wave beam is fully powered and the options are firing the electric anti-yellow laser shots. The beam is absolutely useless though. Can it even counter-burst?

November 30th. They're really setting up Chronicle Saviours to be THE ultimate Darius... But if CS Mode has over 200 stages, then how exactly am I supposed to get through those stages in one go? Is there at least a faster path that leads to the final boss?

Zaarock was able to counter easily. The beams looks weak, but has Assault's burst finish built-in and seems to counter like the G. A nice all-rounder.
