The disc showed up with a number of scratches, and I'm not sure if they're affecting the games or not (it was advertised as "very good" from an apparently reputable Amazon seller, so I'm hoping they're just cosmetic scratches).
I believe that the taito legends 2 port is based off an old build of mame, and that the ps2 didn't have the horsepower to emulate the taito f3 games, so as a result, Darius Gaiden and Dunegon Magic run pretty badly compared to the original arcade versions or Saturn ports. I don't think the Xbox version of Taito Legends 2 has the same problem.

Best Milestone game for the DC?
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Offhand I'd say Radirgy because it's the only one that saves scores properly, but honestly I'd just recommend grabbing one of the Wii compilations instead.

I have tried them all.

BM is right, Radirgy is the only one that saves high score.
It's also the easiest to get into, as well as Karous. Karous might be even easier.

However, my heart says Chaos Field.
Sure it's got the toughest learning barrier, but boy does it get awesome once you get the hang of the controls.

Yeah, I'd agree, radirgy, with karous a close second.

Shepardus wrote:When I play Cho Ren Sha 68k I often have to restart the game several times because sometimes the game runs a little slower than what I think it should be running at. I thought the slower speed was actually the game trying to run at 55fps (like the original 68K version) rather than 60fps but Fraps still says 60fps on its overlay. Does anyone have a way to fix this? Unlike the sound issues Windows compatibility mode doesn't seem to have an effect on this.
Figured out a workaround to this while pressing random buttons; for some reason pressing F re-syncs the speed of the game. Pressing H seems to remove the throttling on how fast the game can run, which I guess can be useful for fast-forwarding through a replay, but it only works if you haven't pressed F before (pressing F after pressing H will also end the fast-forwarding and return the game to normal speed).

...can't make this stuff up.

Anyway, question time: is it documented anywhere what random features Cho Ren Sha 68k has? I don't even know what half the stuff in the options menus do. Stuff like the stage (including that one hidden stage), loop, invincibility, bullet speed, and ship speed are pretty obvious but I'm clueless about the other stuff.

Does anyone have a high-res scan of Mushihimesama Futari Black Label's marquee/Toresetsu? The scanned one from the older thread about Cave marquees is very washed-out and blurry. Thanks all!

I can´t find any high score thread about Deltazeal in the high score subforum, even checking on the index (i think that even G Stream lacks a leaderboard). Am i right in this or maybe i overlooked something?

Yeah, nowadays it's best to do a search rather than just relying on the High Score Index.

Why do wonderwitches keep flying away from me when I'm about to pick them up in Eschatos?

Edit: Is it because I need to keep shooting at them?

No they just have a tsundere movement pattern. You gotta work your way into their heart.

I haven't put much testing into it, but they seem to only move almost as far down as you were when you destroyed them. It may not be determined when you destroy then, but it could instead be that they simply move almost as far down as you wherever you currently are.

That may be confusing. It seems to me that I have to move forward some to collect them just before they reach me. They will not come to you only close enough to piss you off I believe.

Their movement pattern goes:

1) They fly straight down with no turns, starting at a slow speed and accelerating on the way down, until...
2) Your ship is near them. When you approach the Wonderwitch from any direction (or it approaches you), it will dodge to the side, then fly off the screen to the opposite direction of where it dodged.

The Wonderwitch's escape reaction has a very slight delay - if you go near it when it's barely moving, you'll never catch it. Instead, after revealing it with the shot which cancels all bullets, you want to stay still at the bottom of the screen right below it and allow the Wonderwitch time to accelerate, and then collide into it when it's moving at a high speed to grab it without giving it time to escape. With the bullet cancel from revealing it and a flashbomb when grabbing it, you have just enough space to do this for every Wonderwitch.

Except for the one on Stage 3, which may be covered in purple dildos while telling you to go fuck yourself. It only dodges your initial approach and the escape trajectory is regular, so it can be possible to catch it on the retreat by predicting its escape flight plan if you screw up.

For Deathsmiles Mega Black Label, was it better to play in Arcade Mode or 360 Mode(I know for WL, it's Arcade Mode)? I don't remember how the slowdown comparisons are for them.

I know a lot of Japanese shmup players have their name consist of two words separated by a dash. It seems like the second part is their hi-scores name, but what's the first part? Is that some kind of clan name?

Hey kids -

As someone who is (hopefully) going to clear Futari soon and moving on to Espgaluda 2 I want to know which is easier -

Black label Esp 2 or regular?

The first part is their nickname though.

Generally the first part is their 'group' name, yeah. Clover-TAC is part of Clover, SOF-WTN part of SOF, etc.

I disabled buttons for autowiggle and autofire in XIIZeal PC port. Would i regret that?)

So far, most hard thing for me is timing "strong" attacks (lrr or rll)

What difficulty should I start Astebreed on? I know there's a tutorial mode which acts as a prologue to the game, but when I get to the main game itself, do I do Easy or Normal? I don't think I should do Hard when I play, though.

You can't start on Hard anyway since it's unlocked by getting through the game (on Normal?), continues okay. Normal was smooth sailing for me until the stage 5 boss; that and the stage 6 boss made me use at least a dozen continues since when you continue you get restarted back at the start of the checkpoint. If that doesn't sound like a good time to you, then you probably want to try Easy first.

There's memorization, though, right? I'm hoping my battle with the Queen System is epic, it might actually be even better than the battle with the APITEX from Ether Vapor.

Pretty much any game has some degree of memorization... it's the same as any other shmup in that regard. It's pretty forgiving with its regenerating health system and blade attack that can cancel normal bullets, but knowing what to expect always helps.

Is it just me or is the stage 2 boss in Batsugun way harder than the stage 3 boss?
