Go to Options > Screen and set Brightness to zero. Despite the label, it changes the background brightness.rtw wrote:Is there really no way to turn off the background wallpaper image ?

Just put those lines in there:
default || Mushihimesama
Then click on edit settings, click on the + sign, create a profile called "default", open it by scrolling down the list, then copy and paste those settings i posted in there. Save and start the game with GeDoSaTo running in the background.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
the scanlines will help the look of the lowres backgrounds as these were never redrawn in HD.Immryr wrote:This always baffles me too.rtw wrote:Why do you want scanlines on a game which has hi-res assets ?cubadoo23 wrote:Hi folks , just purchased mushi and im really enjoying it besides the few minor issues that are present. who im i kidding ... I for one love scanlines on everything

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Too many elements have been redrawn in HD and the smoothing option is good enough to make the whole thing consistent, fake scanlines would only make sense on the raw upscaled and unfiltered original, which this port doesn't feature.

I've heard that you can effectively turn off the background wallpaper by setting the brightness to 0, but I haven't tried that myself.rtw wrote:Same here, and each time I start it up from the folder it has forgotten about fullscreen. Is there really no way to turn off the background wallpaper image ?
For me the game sometimes forgets about fullscreen and sometimes doesn't (I'm launching from Steam). I'm guessing it has something to do with Steam Cloud.
I also get those slight stutters; for me they're most noticeable during the early stages. Small enough that it doesn't actually hinder gameplay, but a bit jarring.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I'm on Windows 7. If you followed all the steps correctly, the only thing i can think of is to try to run the program as administrator. That, or GeDoSaTo just doesn't work that well on Windows 10 yet.Enemy wrote:opus131, are you on windows 10, maybe its a bug where it doesnt take effect on windows 10?

As you can see the stage scores, it shows the person has (more than likely) played the Arrange mode, but the score has been put in the Original table.SMC wrote:Congratulations to the guy who got 2.4 billion points on 1.0 original. Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
It forgets about your last practice mode settings as well. It didn't do this in the 360 version and it's really annoying.rtw wrote:Same here, and each time I start it up from the folder it has forgotten about fullscreen. Everything else is correct.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Someone posted on the forum that the main screen crash is caused by having too many friends on steam, and fixed by setting yourself offline in the friendlist.
EDIT: Apparently setting yourself offline isn't a real fix

One time all of the mid-large enemies were invisible after starting the game.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I've noticed something weird, when I set brightness to 0 on wallpaper to make it black, the wallpaper still shows from time to time really annoyingly.
Any one else noticed this?

Same for me on my very first playthrough.SMC wrote:One time all of the mid-large enemies were invisible after starting the game.
Anyway...
I am sure everything will eventually get sorted out. Degica is one of few publishers who listen to the community so closely. Those bugs (no pun intended) were to expect as Cave does not have much experience with developing games for PC. Just give it some time.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Great release, beautiful game...and probably the best choice for an introduction to the world of danmaku
I really hope it gets some proper patches soon though...I get strange little pauses during gameplay and the framerate gets unplayable after accessing leaderboards!
Without a visit to the leaderboards it runs great. It could use a fps display and 16:10 support though...
Running on Acer Aspire E 15 with a GeForce840M in case somebody is interested.
Big thanks to Degica an Cave!

One more thing, not really a bug but a minor inconvenience, it would be nice if we could change the leaderboard mode without having to wait for the currently selected leaderboard to load. Takes a while to scroll through the modes when you have to wait for it to reload for every mode you scroll through...
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Play with 2 2560x1440 monitors. Every time I try to run the game in full screen (either through the game menu or ALT+ENTER), both screens go black and I just get a flickering cursor. Anyone know a reason why? I thought the game was native 720p, so I didn't think running on 1440p monitor would be an issue.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Everytime I start the game I see a "First run installation" of something. Every time.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
This port was rushed and there was no QA. They should not have released it before checking everything first. I will not try GeDoSaTo or try anything else to fix what the devs should have had ironed out before release. If I don't see a patch within the next 14 days I might just get a refund and re-buy during sale or just buy it for 360/ps2 or something else.
In its current state, the game is unplayable, and I would enjoy it more on MAME because then atleast I would get fullspeed without jitter. This is a problem that affects the core gameplay, it can't be ignored or avoided. Here's hoping CAVE give us an update soon with some sort of time frame.

For those of you rocking Macs I can tell you that Mushihimesama works via Wineskin!

Haven't tested it too much, just first level in windowed mode but it looked like alright to me, no flicker or strange behaviors (this with smoothing off and no zoom)
I'll test it a bit more later with my MadCatz TE2 stick.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
whilst this post sounds harsh, i kind of agree. i have tried gedosato and just cant get it to work, just hoping what everyone says is true theat the team behind bringing it to steam are good with listening and fixing the issues and i kind of understand that with so many different setups of pcs and laptops there was always going to be problems. what makes me wonder is why wasnt a 1 level demo released 1 to 2 weeks before then people having the crashes and framerate issues could have reported this earlier.mastermx wrote:This port was rushed and there was no QA. edit. with the framerate issues i havent played it so whats the actual conversion/port like, slowdowns etc?

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Guys don't be so harsh, give them a break it's their first PC port, you know a very small dev team like that could spend a year tracking bugs and issues and still miss several, more than one update patches will come, the first one very soon without a doubt.
Plus they'll learn from it, which is good for future releases obviously.

Run on the steam FPS counter, on my hackintosh with a GTX970 it shows 50-55fps. I'd be interested to see if it varies even between macs+wineskin.donluca wrote:For those of you rocking Macs I can tell you that Mushihimesama works via Wineskin!
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I really am not, I hope what people say is true and these guys do listen and it seems from the posts on Steam they are. but remember we paid money for these games, all I was saying was that a 1 level demo 2 to 3 weeks ago would have shown these problems for the vast array of setups.Xyga wrote:Guys don't be so harsh, give them a break it's their first PC port, you know a very small dev team like that could spend a year tracking bugs and issues and still miss several, more than one update patches will come, the first one very soon without a doubt.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I am fair with capcom when they mess up(SFXT being the shitstorm that it was), and I am fair with cave too, in fact it could be argued that over the years I have been very lenient with cave because it's a niche and I love their games. Indie devs like yotsubane release their games with few bugs and get it ironed out very fast. I expect even more from cave, because they aren't indie, they have been doing this for years.
I will wait for a patch of course. But I wonder when they will deliver. I want to support good ports patiently created with love and care, not rushed ones.
Well they shouldn't use us as beta testers. This is not even a new game, it's a port, of a game that runs fine in emulation, they need to sort this stuff out. I got shmups like CCWI, Eschatos, and Ikaruga on my steam amongst others. We have been telling them to bring their games for years to PC. And this debut is less than stellar. Basic functions are lacking, (can't even rebind the start key, weird letterboxing).Xyga wrote:Guys don't be so harsh, give them a break it's their first PC port,

agreed, they shouldnt use us as beta testers on launch but if they used us as beta testers 3 to 4 weeks ago with a demo they would have had a head start.mastermx wrote:I am fair with capcom when they mess up(SFXT being the shitstorm that it was), and I am fair with cave too, in fact it could be argued that over the years I have been very lenient with cave because it's a niche and I love their games. Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Well CC:WI too was a mess in the beginning, I don't believe that was intended at all, and they've worked hard to fix pretty much everything.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
CAVE are on a new platform, PC development is hell due to all the different configurations. Contrary to popular belief CAVE are not sitting on a test farm of 100's of strange configs. Then you have a plephoria of Windows versions to cater for.
The trouble with PCs is that people install software which you have no control over.
You cannot force them to update their drivers or OS.
No matter how long you keep it in beta you have to step into the water at some point. The release is done, now try to reproduce issues and report them here. Degica are here, they watch they listen...

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Threebugs and an annoyance encountered:
1. "C++ Runtime Error" if I try to play while Steam is in offline mode. Might be linked to the need for cloud sync to be on?
2. Always starts in windowed mode if Steam has been restarted. Seems to remember all other settings and indeed to launch fullscreen if I exit then go back in. But if I kill Steam, it launches in Windowed mode.
3. Local high scores aren't saved. Yeah. This is really lame.
4. Can't remap the start button! Saturn to USB converter that just maps it as a Windows controller, so seeing xbox 360 buttons everywhere in the menus is a bit lazy when a standard Windows controller numbered system would make more sense maybe? Also one of the buttons can't be mapped because, in game, it acts as an exit shortcut! I assume this is emulating the 360 "back" button.
While there are obvious software testing challenges with the wide range of PC hardware and operating systems, a lot of people have a lot of issues. It's disappointing to see this many bug reports.
In spite of this, the game itself ran fine for me (16:9, TATE).
