Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I can't believe this is finally happening. Cave on steam, we begged and begged, and finally we shall receive. I only honestly never thought Cave games will ever come to steam. I am buying this day one. Never owned mushi before, I can finally put mame to rest. Looking forward to more from Cave. Please make SDOJ the next steam release.

Anyone know if score attack mode requires a constant internet connection like in the 360 ports?
I've been having issues with my computer randomly and frequently dropping my connection.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Shame I maybe didn't buy this game on day one, yes I had some financial problems here but at least I'll buy it when some issues (if any) getting fixed.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Hmmm. The lazy way out would just be to copy/paste EOJs guide from the Strategy section. Would be better than nothing.cul wrote:Sidetracking here a bit:
Steam has this neat "community hub" feature where you can upload video and share guides. I'm planning on making a guide about the basics of survival in STG for hopefully the beginners that will buy the game. Is anyone legitimate and knowledgeable on the game interested in writing a scoring guide?
I bet someone could probably whip up a revised version. Unfortunately, I haven't messed around with Maniac/Ultra enough to take on the task myself

I don't think anyone should repost EOJ's guide without permission. If you do anything just throw a link onto the community page.

I haven't noticed anything myself, and I've played nothing but score-attack since I received the Steam version (nearly 14 hours).cave hermit wrote:Anyone know if score attack mode requires a constant internet connection like in the 360 ports?

My internet is pretty shaky too.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Will this game be priced in Chinese RMB yuan on launch? Steam are pretty in chaos regarding store item pricing right now. Many of the games are unavailable because of price tag missing.
The newer version of Chinese Leaderboard is here! Check it out :>
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I probably come from the opposite camp of the vast majority of people here. I grew up playing arcades, but then i discovered the PC back in the early 90s and was hooked on that platform for more than a decade, until around 2003 or so the quality of PC games begun to decline, slowly at first, and then considerably, and western gaming has been going down hill ever since (and it is declining still, which is amazing to me). Ironically, part of the reason for this decline was the advent of multiplatform game development, by multiplatform meaning "console first" type of development, which essentially killed many genres that were specific to the PC and were never meant to be played on a console. Yet, at the same time, it was precisely because of multiplatform development that i ended up paying attention to games that were hitherto the exclusive property of consoles, starting with the dreadful Steam port (luckily fixed by modders) of Dark Souls of one side, and the discovery of shmups on the other.Squire Grooktook wrote:I do too, and PC is waaaaaaaay better for jp stuff then consoles right now IMO.
A big portion of my most played Steam games are all Japanese. Consoles (except Wii U) are the realm of big budget triple AAA western movie games, PC is where you play good old games on emulators and good new games on Steam and GOG.
Also PC now has Mecha Ritz and Eschatos. Those two alone make it a superior shmup platform then every console combined.
With that said, i'm still reticent to acquire a console because i'm too spoiled by the great archival potential of the PC. I really detest the way consoles compete with one another by acquiring exclusive rights to specific games. At the moment there are three games i'm interested in, Demon Souls, Bloodbourne and shmups and i have to buy three different consoles just to get them all, and who knows what other type of exclusives i may be interested in the future. And then there is always the question. What happens when a given console is no longer supported? What if the Xbox 360 goes out the market? If i currently want to play a PS1 or PS2 game i can always turn to an emulator, but so far there has been no Xbox or PS3 emulator (and by the looks of it there might not even be one), which makes me very queasy about committing to those platforms. If Cave truly wants to port their library of games on the PC, it would be a great boon, because once a game is ported on the PC, it will always be there. Hell, there's even an emulator out there to play games from truly archaic platforms such as the Plato system.
At any rate, this is going to be a day one purchase for me, if anything to support development for further ports.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
The steam community thread is already giving me a headache.
You do realize there are 3 different types of ships to play as which drastically change how you play as well as 4 separate game modes (Original/Maniac/Ultra/Arrange) which are entirely different game types that have completely sepearate rulesets and bullet patterns? We're not even including the extra 1.5 arrange DLC you get for free on day one purchase which adds an additional set of modes.
To which I reply:The argument that shmups are content-light is perfectly valid. If you find enjoyment in perfecting your run and replaying the same content, then that's great, have at it. Not everyone finds fun in that though. For them, it truly is a value proposition of what there is to do content-wise. There are examples of shmups with extra reasons to play for the casual player. Castle of Shikigami comes to mind. There were various characters to play as, each with their own gameplay mechanic and story over the same levels. That gave more reason to replay, even when the same level content was used.

Having the same thoughts. Aswell getting Qute & Triangle Service games, plus Darius and 2 more cave games are incoming. Good timesmastermx wrote:I can't believe this is finally happening. Cave on steam, we begged and begged, and finally we shall receive.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Requoting a post by Elixir giving a general overview of the modes, since it's buried on page 19 out of 35 in the Cave x Steam thread:
The PS2 and Xbox 360 Arrange modes are a little different; the PC version has the Xbox 360 version of Arrange.
From what I've seen 1.5 Original and 1.5 Original Max are actually quite different, with 1.5 Original looking like an easier version of 1.0 Original, and 1.5 Original Max having the gem counter tied to rank and emphasis on point blanking a la Futari BL Original. I'm not sure if Maniac Max/1.5 Maniac or Ultra Max/1.5 Ultra have different systems.Elixir wrote:Mushi's my thing so I'll try, but it's not as difficult as what people seem to think.
Original - Survival-based. Score comes from chip damage, dissecting bosses and survival. Large post-game life remaining bonus. Psikyo-like bullet speed, all shot types are viable with S-power with the slight edge in damage.
Maniac - More bullets, dense patterns. Multiplier which increases incrementally depending on autofire/tapping versus your position on the screen against some enemies (ie. mid-lower of the screen tapping against Nanabushes, bottom of the screen slow tapping against the Stage 2 midboss). Most people use W-Power as it's the best for raising multiplier.
Ultra - Same bullet speed as above but with very fundamentally different patterns. Multiplier still exists but isn't emphasized on as much due to the sheer difficulty (kind of like Futari Ultra), but S-power destroys bosses quicker with a trade-off of stages being harder due to the linear shot it has. Also, the only mode with the TLB.
1.5 Original - point-blanking based, like Futari BL Original but much more forgiving.
1.5 Maniac - dense bullet patterns with multiplier and point-blanking.
1.5 Ultra - dense bullet patterns with multiplier and point-blanking.
1.5 modes w/ MAX - respective of the above w/ full power to begin with, but starts only with a single bomb.
Arrange - Starts at 300k multiplier w/ full power, intense focus on point-blanking (for multiplier gain) like Futari BL Original has, includes autobomb.
As far as I know, Mushihimesama's Matsuri 1.5 PCB was Cave Shop exclusive making it pretty rare, but it's exactly the same as the first print bonus included with the 360 release.
Did I miss anything?

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Original non-max has no counter but point blanking still spawns gems.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Ah, thanks for the info. Other stuff I've read about Original Max (please correct me if I'm wrong):SMC wrote:Original non-max has no counter but point blanking still spawns gems.
Original Max has a counter that increases with gems and decreases during bosses and when you die/bomb and halves between stages. At 10k and above the bullets speed up noticeably and point-blanking spawns large gems, similar to having a 9999 stage counter in Futari BL Original, and at 50k and above the bullets speed up even more, like it does at 100k in Futari BL Original. I don't know if it gets any faster than that but it's certainly scary enough at 50k.
Degica moved the launch three hours earlier, so the game's out in about 40 minutes.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Isn't there supposed to be a discount for the first week? Looks like its at the normal price right now.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
People who've bought it already say that the deluxe edition includes both OST and 1.5 DLC.
Launch discount isn't up yet, I'm guessing they forgot to move that back by 3 hours when they did that for the launch time.

Sooo, should we wait?
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
We should ask why the price in the UK is higher than everywhere else as usual.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
its £14.99 for standard and £18.99 for dx .... is this what was said to be the normal price then as thought it was going to be around the £20 mark for the standard game.
not ever watched a launch time on steam so have no idea how they go about it.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
The UK price almost 15% higher than the price in USD at current exchange rates.
I imagine it's a combination of close-enough currency conversion and the tendency to price things in certain increments instead of making unit-by-unit adjustments.
