Nice one Pasky, I've been playing that game a bit too but haven't gotten further than stage 5 yet.

I've got a couple questions if you happen to know the answers: 1) Does movement speed change when you switch shot types? I feel like it affects laser movement speed but not rapid shot movement speed. 2) Does bombing have any negative impact on score?

On the contrary, bombing constantly is crucial for score, and is the main reason everyone picks energy over bomber. Bomb -> supergraze during bomb -> repeat

Ah that's nice, I like that. :D I just wish in energy mode the bullets cancelled into a hailstorm of bees like they do in bomb mode. IGS really embraced the bee theme a lot more than CAVE ever did...

No movement speed is the same, only ship type affects your movement speed.

Aura killing also bumps your score higher. There are also hidden things for score such as keeping the two rotating turrets alive during the stage 3 boss astronomically increases your score gain when firing at it.

There's no negative effect with bombing that's what makes the game so fun in energy mode, you can route the stages so that you bomb and build back your energy meter while you're bombing, this is especially abusable in stage 5 and at the true last boss.

Congrats on the DDP2 clear!

Speaking of DDP2, does anyone know any really good superplays of it? I found this but I want to see something that gets close to the world record. Sorry if this question seems suited for a different thread.

Nice one! How long have you been working on that? I've been seeing you streaming the game on Twitch for a while now.

In other news, I just got a Hard 1-ALL of Cho Ren Sha 68k:

Got up to 2-3 before the game over.

Hard's a lot of fun, very chaotic even if you know what to expect. After playing Normal so long it feels like a new game, but with a pleasant familiarity to it. Familiar, but at the same time unpredictable.

Somewhere around 170 hours on Steam - I bought it there for the DLC and started playing Boost after seeing the superplays. The fact that even some of them used relatively generous bombs for rank control without losing many points made the mode seem much more playable than I'd thought.

Mushi Futari Black Label 1cc, I know it's not regarded as the most difficult thing in the world but it's somewhat of an achievement for me. I got to the last boss with 3 lives and ended with zero so there's plenty of room to improve :D

Compared to other shmups it's one of the easier ones, but if you're relatively new, it's still totally worth celebrating! Sounds like you could use some work on bombing sooner and not dying with bombs left...it was the same for me.

Its my third Cave 1cc (after Deathsmiles and Akai Katana Shin) so I guess I'm relatively experienced but I've always had a problem with 1cc's with vertical shooters for some reason and Mushi Futari is the only one I've liked enough to stick with!

I can definitely do better with the final boss and have done it in training with one life but it's never the same when real thing comes around.

Nice work kids!
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

After watching Blinge and Uyama's Metal Slug 3 run it inspires to do the same.

In my last run I've already no miss'd until the Jupiter King, the missile launch in last phase is unpredictable and waste my lives here. I choose the hardest path (underwater, ice cave, tunnel route inside the factory), and I can say the ice cave route is totally bitch right with samurai infantry route, it requires luck more rather than skill. Too bad the Kawaks emu didn't support recording feature.

Also I've been practicing stage 4 and go in samurai infantry route, too many randomness here, Hope I'll no miss'd until the boss.

<333 haha my run is pretty lucky I must say, cleared by the skin of my teeth.
I recommend tracking down MathU's run, he takes the samurai route iirc.

Not playing much at the moment, in fact I’m thinking of selling off some of my games (to help fund a newfound watch obsession). I have got to stage 9 a couple times now in Dogyuun and sorta took a break.

So just been doing a credit of DDP in the morning with ships I don’t normally use.
Got the 1-All with C-shot and A-shot. Nice feeling to just pop in a credit and get a mindless clear. :)

Raiden IV Arcade mode clear! Normal difficulty

I'm rather pleased with this one, as it's way outside my usual danmaku comfort zone. Just a few days ago the style was totally alien to me and the game seemed unbeatable.

Guess i'll try clearing original difficulty and overkill mode next.

Western records with all Garegga ships besides Gain and Silver Sword.
Silver Sword will take a day or two of playing. Gain will be much more of a challenge.

Congrats Comrade Eaglet

Oh cock ittt, I was playing Raiden IV on normal difficulty instead of original because I thought the highscore board was set to normal, but apparently original's the way to go.
harumph.

Edit: whew. original clear get.

What? Don't ever downplay something you've clearly earned. Some of us still don't have a Cave clear
