For 1080p you shouldn't really be using the XRGB to do anything. Just use the HDMI1_Direct and it will just act as a pass thru device (that's what I use for my Wii U)Jaymes Keller wrote:Hi all, seeing as this seems to be Framemeister central, I'll throw something in myself.
With Firmware 2.00A, it seems to have some trouble with the PS3, only under the conditions of:
-Using HDMI
-Attempting to use 1080p
I get flickering and static, which drops to a "No Input" message. Now, if I use 1080i, it works fine. I know, it's pointless, seeing as most games function on 720p, but I would like all of my 7th gen stuff to be on the same page, if that makes sense.

Hi! first time poster and new xrgb mini user, I have a question, i tried to play Pokémon Stadium on N64 via S-Video but seems the resolution changes between game and menu every time, It's kinda difficult to play like this, can i fix it somehow? is there a setting for this?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
For what it's worth I had a similar problem with my PS3 and a projector. 720p worked fine but 1080p would sometimes drop out. The solution was ultimately in the PS3's output settings. I don't remember what anymore, but it may have been turning "truecolor" on or off, or maybe "super white." After finding the right setting, the problem completely vanished.Jaymes Keller wrote:Hi all, seeing as this seems to be Framemeister central, I'll throw something in myself.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
So I attempted using the XRGB Mini as an HDMI switch for my HD DVD Player and Oppo Upconverting DVD player just using passthrough and I never had any luck. Drop outs were common. I use my Oppo as an SACD player, and the audio would cut out ever 30 seconds or so. It doesn't appear the HDMI Direct on the XRGB mini are fully supporting all HDMI features. They may be bitrate limited, which is why you're experiencing issues at 1080p but not 720p.

N64 resolution changes are not properly managed in XRGB-mini.Mard wrote:Hi! first time poster and new xrgb mini user, I have a question, i tried to play Pokémon Stadium on N64 via S-Video but seems the resolution changes between game and menu every time, It's kinda difficult to play like this, can i fix it somehow? is there a setting for this?

The only solutions to properly manage resolution changes seem to be two projects that are not yet available,
marqs scaler project:

or the N64 HDMI project:

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
The Framemeister handles horizontal scaling very differently than vertical. As such, we don't have to worry about integer-based scaling on the horizontal axis because the graphics do not display artifacts there. It's only on the vertical that we have to worry about being super-accurate, because that's where you'll really notice the artifacts during scrolling.Skavi_ wrote:
Is there some step here I don't fully understand? Maybe the perfect integer scaling only applies to the vertical?
If you've got the time I would love if you could explain more in detail about the width.
Most of my profiles are measured and set to 4:3 aspect ratio, with the occasional exception like the 320 mode Genesis profiles, which is set to square pixels (the 256 modes are set to 4:3, but the 320 mode games almost all were designed with square pixels in the artwork).
Just remember you have a lot of freedom to adjust the horizontal axis on the Framemeister, but the vertical axis must be perfect. Easiest way to check for vertical accuracy on 1080p is to turn scanlines on. If they look uniform all the way up and down the screen, you're kosher.

Hello FBX.
Have you tried 4.1/2 x scale?
Thanks!!!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hi Guys,
I'm fairly new to all this but I think I've got most of the info locked down bar these two questions. If I import the XRGB to the UK, will it need a stepdown converter or will an equivalent UK power supply, or socket converter, work?
In terms of SCART cables what's the optimal cable set up for systems like MegaDrive/SNES. I know the XRGB comes with a JP-21 cable but would I need to convert the JP-21 into a EUROScart or will a C-Sync EUROScart wired for the XRGB run without issues?
Probably stupid questions but I've seen conflicting reports where people are saying one is fine but the other isn't.

Ironically, I accidentally did 7.5 scale on the Super Game Boy profile when I first released it. I discovered the error when I revisited the work I did on it, and corrected it.

Despite turning auto scaler off, I'm still regularly suffering drop out especially when using my Sigma AV7000. I'm also getting a lot of bleed on the horizontal... is this the lead or the set-up? Any suggested settings for the Sigma?
Lead wise I'm using the original Jap 21 scart lead and Xrgb adaptor.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hi I just got an XRGB mini and I'm having issues with it when using it with my BenQ TW526E projector and my pal Sega MegaDrive 1.
It seems to be freezing on certain games, the audio continues in the background but the picture disappears.
I'm using the Sega Mega Drive Megadrive 1 Genesis 1 RGB SCART cable and CSYNC EuroSCART to XRGB mini adapter with optional external power cable. (both from retro gaming cables)
I tried connecting it to a TV and it worked fine(I used all the same cables)
When it does freeze, I can't even bring up the menu on the XRGB.
Is it the projector? Is it having handshake/sync issues? I have found on Streets of Rage 3 for example it seems to lose visual signal between levels as the BenQ logo flashes up while the level loads in.
On streets of rage 1, it either works or it gets stuck at after a few seconds.
Anyway I hope someone can help

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Auto_Scaler has no effect on dropout issues that I'm aware of anyway. All it does is lock in values for H_Scale and V_Scale. At any rate, the clearest picture you can get on the horizontal is to set H_Scale to 4 (or 5 if you want a hair more sharpness at the cost of a hair more artifacts).Tarma wrote:Despite turning auto scaler off, I'm still regularly suffering drop out especially when using my Sigma AV7000. It seems to be working now, I changed my projector to ratio 4:3.
I set the XRGB to 576-50 and I turned sync mode off. This seems to have stopped all the issues.
I then tested my Neo Geo AES and found that I needed to change the res to 720-60 and turn sync mode back on as the graphics looked really bad.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hi again everybody, I have a new problem...
I received the Toro VGA Box for my DC and hooked it up to my Framemeister.
It works, but the picture needs some improvement and more importantly I have visible ghosting.
Ideas anybody? Also could anybody share their settings for the DC?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
PAL Megadrive right? PAL consoles should generally be set to 50hz modes. By turning sync mode off you potentially introduce stuttering. Consider upgrading to a NTSC console and software, after all, you just dropped a chunk of change on a high-end upscaler, not much point using PAL games with it if NTSC alternatives exist.I set the XRGB to 576-50 and I turned sync mode off. This seems to have stopped all the issues.
Well yes, that's a NTSC (60hz) machine after all.I then tested my Neo Geo AES and found that I needed to change the res to 720-60 and turn sync mode back on as the graphics looked really bad.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
So I just ordered a Framemeister from Solaris Japan. (Now I just need power cables, controller overlays etc.)
I'm wondering if anyone here is using their Framemeister on a monitor and not a HDTV?
I plan on using it on my monitor but I'm not sure how to get audio out of this setup as my monitor only accepts DVI. From what I understand the Framemeister only outputs from 1 single HDMI port.
My plan right now is to use some kind of HDMI box with audio breakout (making sure the HDMI is pure pass through), I just wanted to see if anyone here use a similar setup and have any other suggestions?

I use a computer monitor, but mine has hdmi and vga inputs as well as dvi which is connected to my pc. For your situation, you'll need something like this http://www.amazon.com/Converter-Digital ... B00FCYKO8W , not sure if there is a cheaper solution. Honestly if I were you, for that price I'd just spend a little more and get a newer monitor that has hdmi.Skavi_ wrote:So I just ordered a Framemeister from Solaris Japan. One reason I want to hold on to my monitor is because I have two identical ones and if I was to change I would probably like to change both.
Another reason is that it got very good results in tftcentral test for input lag http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/images/dell ... _lag_1.jpg (I have the dell_u2312hm)
But like you said, some adapter/box to extract the sound and connect it to my PC seems like the best option. This is probably what I'll end up buying, seems good with a decent price tag. http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Extractor- ... B00KBHX072
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)

I just ordered the Toro and a Euro SCART adapter (since the Toro isn't configured for JP21). When they arrive, I'll work up some profiles on the Framemeister.Takuma wrote:I think so. When I wanted to make sure I saw the wiki is down...BuckoA51 wrote:Are you using the settings from the Wiki?
Be warned that there is the issue of 480p on the Framemeister that introduces edge softening (false contours) if you're wanting an ultra-sharp picture.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Quoting myself just to explain how I solved it if anyone else is using the Framemeister with DVI only monitor. (Note: I don't actually have all the stuff to hook it up yet)Skavi_ wrote:So I just ordered a Framemeister from Solaris Japan. (Now I just need power cables, controller overlays etc.)

I ordered one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCART-audio-bre ... 25a0d89f74
Currently out of stock at retro_console_accessories but similar products can be found elsewhere. This solution is passive so I don't need any extra power supply and it doesn't add as much of a cable mess as an active HDMI breakout box would.
The only downside I see is that I will get the sound before Framemeister processing and display lag which means it will be around 20-40ms ahead of the picture. Maybe that's not noticeable and if it is I could probably delay it somehow because I'm connecting the sound to my PC anyway.
Really a cheaper and better solution than any other I can think of.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)

Can't remember which settings I've used but I remember playing Rez and SGGG with the Toro and XRGB-Mini last year. Picture was fantastic.
Or, when I think about it, I've got a Shenmue sample showing the H and V scaler settings if that would be of interest.

Not to push my question ahead of the queue but just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on this at all? The main thing I'm worried about is the SCART setup since I'd ideally not want to have any noise on the image and I'm unsure of best practices.Friendlyfriend wrote:Hi Guys,

Probably stupid questions but I've seen conflicting reports where people are saying one is fine but the other isn't.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Equivalent UK power supply will be fine. You just need to match the barrel size and power requirements. The XRGB wiki says to use 5v 2.5 amp DC power supply adapter with 4mm x 1.7mm tip. The links in the wiki are outdated though, so you'll have to do a little bit of searching.Friendlyfriend wrote:Not to push my question ahead of the queue but just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on this at all? Stick with SCART cables and purchase a SCART to XRGB mini-DIN8 converter from either Retro Console Accessories or Retro Gaming Cables.
