Opinions on DDP DaiFukkatus BL
I JUST finally got around to playing this. Black Label, I mean.
Despite despising the boss designs....did they actually make this game good? Or is the music blinding me?
I had this, but it was the vanilla version. I found it to be "there". This seems more interesting. My memory may be playing tricks on me.

It's the music.
There's more cancelling in BL. In both playstyles, survival and scoring.
The rank system doesn't make sense; having high rank and just destroying everything with shot+laser gives you so many cancels that the rank doesn't even matter anymore.
These points already make it inferior to 1.5 imo. The only good thing is that there's only 1 loop (and the music obviously)

Relevant thread.
I personally don't like either all that much but prefer BL for its craziness and that you can disable autobomb (and can benefit from doing so). Neither's compelling enough for me to take it seriously but I have more immediate fun with BL.

So, did Yagawa do Black Label?
And you have to admit, the music is a REAL boost.
The graphics are nice, overall. I always think about how the last DDP is just blue. Wasn't too keen on that. I still haven't gotten around to playing that.
REALLY hate the bosses. But whatever...this was Cave's loli phase. What can you do?
But it seems more manic, although you can cancel the bullets. I seem to do worse at BL.
Which I like.
I haven't fully grasped the hyper thing yet.

Wow you haven't fully grasped the very base mechanic of the game and already made a thread about how the game seems better?evil_ash_xero wrote: I haven't fully grasped the hyper thing yet.

Key word being "fully" - might as well say that because I haven't fully grasped chaining and made routes for every stage in DOJ I can't have a valid opinion on whether I like the chaining mechanic or even on whether my first impressions of the mechanic are positive or negative.Cagar wrote:Wow you haven't fully grasped the very base mechanic of the game and already made a thread about how the game seems better?evil_ash_xero wrote: I haven't fully grasped the hyper thing yet.

Yes he probably has fully optimized routes too, seeing how he JUST got around to playing this and calls them "hyper things".Shepardus wrote:Key word being "fully" - might as well say that because I haven't fully grasped chaining and made routes for every stage in DOJ I can't have a valid opinion on whether I like the chaining mechanic or even on whether my first impressions of the mechanic are positive or negative.Cagar wrote:Wow you haven't fully grasped the very base mechanic of the game and already made a thread about how the game seems better?evil_ash_xero wrote: I haven't fully grasped the hyper thing yet.

Let's confirm:
evil_ash_xero, were you mainly referring to specifics (length, hyper rank etc) or the basics (usage, cancelling, stocking)?

He was just asking what the general opinion on the game was. He said it "feels" better to him, but was just asking to see if anyone else felt the same. He wasn't authoritatively declaring it superior or anything.

Re: Opinions on DDP DaiFukkatus BL
casuals always prefer BL because it's 1 loop only and gives more positive feedback for less effort
and then there is the music which you can just swap into 1.5 anyways
dfk bosses in general are garbage and it's not because they're anime girls but because of the gameplay design

When I say I just started playing it, I meant for less than an hour.Cagar wrote:Wow you haven't fully grasped the very base mechanic of the game and already made a thread about how the game seems better?evil_ash_xero wrote: I haven't fully grasped the hyper thing yet.

And I have played 1.5, but it was when it came out. And I sold it, pretty soon after I got it, due to not really being into it.
I've been on here a long time, and I don't really like being treated as a newbie. Even if my question was a bit hastily put together.

I don't see what the problem with asking a question is.

I remember preferring Bomb mode in Black Label. You automatically face the hidden mid bosses in that mode. It's a fun clear, plus the wheels of pain in stage 5 are a bit easier.
The single loop, lack of auto bomb and rank control make this way more enjoyable than regular DFK for me, but that's because I never like DFK's scoring.

I love BL. Crank the Reddo Guage up to max and play for survival auto bomb off. Fun as hell.

I think that was actually Power mode.dan76 wrote:I remember preferring Bomb mode in Black Label. You automatically face the hidden mid bosses in that mode.

Is it only me who prefers original Daifukkatsu arcade music over new arranges and remixes?
EXCEPT True Final Boss theme from Black Label, which nearly breakcore.

Stage 1 and onwards = BL. Except stage 2, 5 and TLB = originalqmish wrote:Is it only me who prefers original Daifukkatsu arcade music over new arranges and remixes?
Do you mean Zatsuza's theme? Yeah I liked this one.EXCEPT True Final Boss theme from Black Label, which nearly breakcore.
Re: Opinions on DDP DaiFukkatus BL
Mmmm i mean what is called "Mercilessness" is DFK BL ost release. Different variations of this tune are in Cave games since Esp Ra.De., i think. And in DFK BL it is maybe the most intense.
Other then that, i stick to melodic and soft sound of arcade version. Espacially regular boss themes.

Re: Opinions on DDP DaiFukkatus BL
I like the music better (except longhena cantata) aswell as the fact strong style makes the game harder whereas before it made it way easier because it's op. Also like how you can play without autobomb. But otherise I'm not really a fan of it. I also find the control scheme a little weird as I'm used to holding the shot button while lasering whereas doing that in bl would shot+laser.

Stage 5 BL is the best song in all of the Daifukkatsu's.

That's right, power mode. Been so long since I played it, going to fire it up now.BulletMagnet wrote:I think that was actually Power mode.dan76 wrote:I remember preferring Bomb mode in Black Label. You automatically face the hidden mid bosses in that mode.

Re: Opinions on DDP DaiFukkatus BL
The music is definitely better - I actually wrote an article on this with pertinent analysis (and no, I don't wish to share it atm. It needs editing, and I don't have the time for it right now). I think the tracks composed by Yoshimi Kudo made a lot of difference (he did the arrange tracks for the Xbox 360 mode of Saidaioujou as well), and Azusa Chiba's BL tracks I think are superior to her 1.5 ones as well (her use of what I call a timbral form in the stage 2 track is particularly brilliant). I think the gameplay is more fun too, for reasons already mentioned (ability to turn autobomb off, reddo gauge, etc.).
Does anyone know what Kudo has been up to lately? The Basiscape page is only updated through 2012.
