Why haven't I seen a single shooting game with auto-bragging? Whenever you fire up an online-enabled shooter, a text bubble pops up and brags for whoever beat your score.

or maybe
"Hey player5782, your position dropped from [higher number] to [lower number]!"

[opt-in asshole mode]

I've had the idea for a while that one way you could use the empty space on the left and right of the screen when playing a vertical shooter on a horizontal monitor is to put a graph showing your score against your highscores or your friends', so you can see and revel in the exact moment your score shoots past your friends'.

Something like arrows showing where you have moved in the leaderboards since the last time you logged in might be a simpler and more efficient idea.
