Games that should have gotten sequels.

Yes, Axelay is my bet. I'd love to see a sequel, even though one of its main features was the wonderful use of Mode7. Now that everything's already seen on videogames, probably it wouldn't spawn the same graphical impact and it would focus on gameplay... and you know, there are so many really good shmups around that maybe... another axelay would be dangerous.

And about Einhander, Squaresoft mentioned in late 1998 that they couldn't care less about making a sequel because at the time they just wanted to hit the market with "a classic in every mainstream genre". That's why they started producing so many weird, third-party games. Something became a serious contender for a true classic in non-rpg games (Einhander, Bushido Blade 2, FFT, Parasite Eve), something went awfully bad (Chocobo Racing, Driving Emotion Type-S, Soukaigi and finally Cyber Org, which sucked so bad that they gave up and stuck with RPGs).

Now we can't hope to see a Zweihander unless it features a spiky haired guy with issues and a fancy girl with 20 wardrobe 18-wheelers behind her.

Gigandes, pretty much one of the only horizontal shmups that I like. It'd be really cool if you could attach 8 weapons to your ship, so that you wouldn't need the whole crap with making the weapons shoot diagonally.

Hey you guys on Squaresoft (now Square Enix) this one is a must!!

And please call the game Zweihänder. Like someone on the forums, I always hoped that Square will make a sequel and call it Zweihänder.

(Einhänder = One-handed)
(Zweihänder = Two-handed)

...can't believe I missed this post when first viewing the thread. XD;; then again, I was at school, and in a hurry. ^_^; ...surely you don't mean... moi?
