And thanks for the BGM fix, DKA_Darius. What was the issue that caused the pause?[/quote
I guess their programmer forgot to make loops for BGM, and it is an old problem.

I'm confused, does it not have TATE? If not, how is this possible:coturnixx wrote:This game screams for TATE, i find the screen really tiny compared to let´s say Crimzon Clover (using 1280x720 in my 1280x1024 setup).

Try forcing v-sync through your GPU settings if you can; it works for me, but I agree that it would be nice to have a native option for that.HamidoOs wrote:I'm very happy to have this on my Steam account. The comfort it gives me is just what I want; always one click away from one of my favorite shmups.
But what this game needs is better video options, including V-Sync. There is screen tearing in full screen and it is annoying.
It supports all screen orientations.emphatic wrote:I'm confused, does it not have TATE?
That did it!Aisha wrote:Try forcing v-sync through your GPU settings if you can; it works for me, but I agree that it would be nice to have a native option for that.HamidoOs wrote:But what this game needs is better video options, including V-Sync. I totally agree. Its just my opinion that we should both purchase the game to support them AND keep open lines of communication regarding our issues.ZellSF wrote: Expecting basic features is not the same as expecting perfection.
I'm fine with not getting a PC port of a game if it isn't an improvement in any way of the PS3 port. I'm fine with them losing the profits of the PC market if they can't pay a programmer for one hour of time to implement a basic feature. Honestly, I really really doubt their profit margins are that low. If we demand these features, it's more likely they'll implement them than give up on the PC market.
Or we can just continue lowering our standards all the time and get shittier and shittier quality software.
I'm not so sure that MOSS was involved in this port at all. They most likely just handed over the PS3 development assets they received from Shanghai Riceman Technology Co. Ltd.BPzeBanshee wrote:Someone needs to tell MOSS to fix that bullshit ASAP.
With these kind of sales number I'm surprised they decided to port Raiden IV OverKill at all. And the total revenue doesn't go into the implementation of the port (Steam takes 30-40% to start with). So there isn't much money going into the port - much less for testing. They can get more programming hours with (cheaper) less skilled programmers - with predictable results, especially if they skimp on testing.ZellSF wrote:I'm fine with them losing the profits of the PC market if they can't pay a programmer for one hour of time to implement a basic feature. Implementation costs of features is always weighed up against how they affect the number of units sold - even "low cost" features are considered a waste of effort if they won't increase sales significantly; additional features only really become interesting once they are believed to increase sales significantly (depending on the situation probably > +50%) as long as the effort is "reasonable". For the time being the shmups genre is still near "commercially extinction" especially in a market that is streamlined for major movers.ZellSF wrote:If we demand these features, it's more likely they'll implement them than give up on the PC market.
The creator of steamspy already said that everything with less than 30k is unreliable data. Plus you don't work at H2, you don't know the real sales and the profit they made. And what they expect from raiden 4HydrogLox wrote: With these kind of sales number I'm surprised they decided to port Raiden IV OverKill at all.
Here is someone with a same problem http://steamcommunity.com/app/323460/di ... 390055330/. And i wouldn't say that gog version is "inevitable". And if they'll release it i doubt it will magically have all bugs fixed.awry wrote:My scores keep erasing themselves. Anyone else experiencing this? I think it might be related to Steam Cloud, as I have played the game on two different computers.
All the more reason to wait for the inevitable GOG version.
I wouldn't put much stock in the "inevitable GOG version." I say this because people are still waiting for the likes of Torchlight II to show up on GOG. It's still not there, despite a DRM-free version being offered on Humble Bundle. There are even other older games on Steam that have yet to show up on GOG, so I wouldn't bet much money on a GOG version of Raiden IV being a sure thing.awry wrote:All the more reason to wait for the inevitable GOG version.
It's not pessimism, it's realism. As I said, there are plenty of Steam games that would be on GOG due to their age, and yet they aren't. There are also others that are either DRM-free to begin with, or that have a DRM-free version on other sites, but they aren't on GOG. Plus, Raiden Legacy isn't on Steam, yet Raiden III and Raiden IV are. So yeah, no guarantees.awry wrote:Guys quit being so pessimistic. It will definitely come to GOG. The following Raiden games are already on GOG: Raiden, Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, Raiden Fighters Jet, and Raiden III. Raiden IV is surely going there. And because I suspect the saving issue is related to steam cloud save syncing, the saving issue would not be present in a GOG version.
I don't think the music looping and vsync issues would be fixed though, as the looping issue is apparently also on the PS3 version, and vsync can be forced through your graphics driver settings.
That's a long list of things that makes sense from the developers side, but nothing we should be cheering on. Other developers are managing to to this, it's not unreasonable to expect it here.HydrogLox wrote:

If they didn't fix it for the PS4 version, I doubt they're going to now. There's really no signs of any sort of care being put into this port. Not yet anyway, but there has been ports launched in a worse state that's later been fixed up after feedback. The problem with the music "skipping" when repeating is extremely stupid. I hope there's an official patch because it's just embarrassing.
It's slightly annoying in that you need to put your vertical screen into landscape mode before starting the game. The game actually does support a bunch of 3:4 resolutions, but if you try to use one of them while in portrait mode, the screen goes mostly black with some random flickers of the game. Crimzon Clover behaves the same way for me, actually. Can't really think of a shmup on Steam that handles portrait mode well out of the box, to be honest. Maybe XIIZEAL?ZellSF wrote:Doesn't support vertical resolutions though (1080x1920). Going to guess Ikaruga handles it well: it defaults setting its resolution to desktop resolution.CWM wrote:It's slightly annoying in that you need to put your vertical screen into landscape mode before starting the game. This. It seems like whenever I enable vsync through a game's settings, I get very noticeable input lag. Meanwhile forcing it through drivers is perfect every time. Can't comment on gsync though, vsync works fine for me and I don't want to buy a special monitor just for that.ZellSF wrote:Sync is something that PC gamers really should learn to force through drivers, games are terrible at implementing options for them.
I believe it depends on the v-sync method applied (by hardware, software and whatnot). The graphics card & TV combo I'm using right now is bonkers in that respect and taught me no computer game can be trusted to do it by the book.awry wrote:It seems like whenever I enable vsync through a game's settings, I get very noticeable input lag. I've noticed that it defaults to keyboard if you start the game by pressing a key on the keyboard rather than a button on the controller - i.e. gamepad support is completely locked out if you start the game with the keyboard. You can however escape back to the opening CGI-clip and then regain use of the game controller.Obscura wrote:It defaults P1 to keyboard no matter what I do, and there's no way to get it to change that as far as I can tell.
