Valve is more than willing to reject refund requests from people who are obviously trying to game the system.

Hey, people can just find less obvious ways to do the same thing. I'm just saying the reality is you can either have DRM free or refunds, not both.

Yeah with the option to rent (pay one time, keep them forever) those games with a 20%, 50%, 75% or 90% discount and having also the possibility to install/play them on any PC with internet I have in front of me...I can be happy with that.
Besides, Steam offers a lot of great perks.

Which is why I agree that a video would be the best format for such a tutorial.
Yeah, I've been meaning to record a "How to Play Shmups" video tutorial for a really long time. It's just hard to find time to do it when I'm preoccupied with more immediate concerns =P.

Ugh. Please someone open a separate thread for discussing CavexSteam DRM. Please.

Well, I'm so happy about this. Honestly never thought I would ever see any CAVE games on Steam.

I'll definitely buy them again. Even though I have most of them on my J-X360

My guess is it's going to be Mushi Futari, but I also think the horizontal orientation of Deathsmiles would make it a reasonable first entry.

So that for sure rules out Deathsmiles 1 and 2, and Akai Katana (and Progear, but that wasn't much of a possibility in the first place).

It also goes by other names such as tap dodging, but either way introductory guides on getting accustomed to shmups aren't very common. If any of you haven't seen this yet check out Simulation296, a freeware game that teaches a variety of fundamentals.

Ouch. Yeah, I own all the 360 releases but will buy copies to gift to friends.

Some promotion will need to happen to raise awareness for this release (and other upcoming shmups!) because ever since Steam did the whole Steam Discoverability thing, it's become difficult to keep track of new releases. And how many people even bother to check that hidden section of the store?

I just want Cave to catch a break, since they deserve to make some big bucks.

Two words: EFF YEAH.

Good chatter/dialogue but whatever the case, this is good news. I remember the whole IOS thing and while it was nice getting a US translation of DOJ, etc, the whole idea of using my index finger was blasphemy.

So, IMO....
1) hopefully cheaper,
2) previously non region-free titles?
3) potentially reaching a wider audience,
4) Cave not "dead"

= I'm psyched. Once I played DDP like 13 years ago, I was sold and sadly my devotion was solely given to CAVE. Never been the same since and their death was truly saddening.

Tho...let's be realistic. A few bigger titles (like Mushi) is a good start...before we talk about Campaign edition or Progear. :)

Let's hope they make enough dough to bankroll another game. Or maybe a decent arcade-style version of one of their mobile-only games.

It sounds like they are making a new game. Everything said about it seems semi-cryptic like it could be a sequel to something like Mushi 3 or ESP Ra. De. 2 (lol I'm dreaming on that one).

Great news

I thought it sounded like a new game as well but I'm not gonna get my hopes up on that, haha. Mushi 3 would either be my dream come true or my saddest nightmare.

With quotes like
Blackbird wrote:Without giving away too much, it's a real arcade game and a fan favorite, so you can put your fears of bad mobile ports or freemium games aside.
and
Blackbird wrote:The upcoming game is actually one of your favorites, if I recall.
I'm under the impression that it's an already-existing game.

Hypothetical Mushi 3 is already both of those things though.

shinimai more or less confirmed that it's a port of something early on in the thread, barring miscommunication.

Futari makes the most sense to me based on a number of reasons, but I also think it could be Mushihimesama, just going by the background used in the teaser site.

softdrink said that degica told him it was one of his favorites so yeah it's most likely mushi.

If it's regular ol' Mushi there really needs to be some marketting for 1,5. From what i've personally seen it's a much more approachable game for newbs.

Even if they were thinking about doing a new game, they should improve their financial situation first. I don't want another SaiDaiOuJou which is probably a good game, but in terms of presentation it's just a blue blur and even the music is a bit lacklustre.

Kinda agree on the overly blue-ness, but I found SDOJs music great personally

Even if it's a re-release, I hope Cave will throw in something such as a new mode.
If they need to do this first re-release to get back in the business, fine, but I'm half-thrilled, I'd like something NEW for a change, not a virtual Cave shooting collection box...
What a dull job it must be to always port the same game to other systems. Where are the R&D guys ?

Unless Mushi is going to include Mushi 1.5 i kinda think it'd be a poor choice over say futari all things considered but whatever it's all a step in the right direction i guess.
