Kudos for admitting more than all the usual dissers on here have since the game's been released.Lord Satori wrote:Yeah, I didn't watch the video past that point.
Anyway, the game looks interesting so far, I don't know what I was on about earlier.

Worst case is it's well-received by critics, and praised as the shining example of how to make a modern shooter, despite it's many glaring faults, a la Sine Mora and Resogun.Rex Cavalier wrote:Ew, POS in the best case, and i would not even talk about worst case.

Re: Galak-Z: The Dimensional
Does is have many glaring faults? Galak-Z is a million times better than Sine Mora, and much better than Resogun imo. Glaring faults... hmmm... there's not enough roguelike objects to interact with? Does that count as a glaring fault? I guess the framerate is a glaring fault, though I wouldn't say it actively gets in the way of gameplay all that often.

Re: Galak-Z: The Dimensional
From the videos only it looks amazing to me from a visual style point of view. Gameplay also looks interesting and fun (even if not the standard fare that is praised around this parts).
(just kidding, couldn't help it)
Now, in all seriousness, what's so wrong with trying new things? Maybe Galak-z is not the usual shmup but it seems to be a good game at what it does.
Ok, enough of this nonsense, they maybe are not, but WE ARE reinventing the genreUdderdude wrote:I think there needs to be a new rule that any game developer claiming to "Reinvent the genre" needs to either post here explaining themselves or have all threads related to their games locked .. >_>

Re: Galak-Z: The Dimensional
This game will be out on Steam on October 29, $19.99 (with a 20% launch discount). They're adding an "arcade mode" which is essentially the same as the standard ("rogue) mode but with saves after every mission, as well as mouse/keyboard controls, Steam achievements, etc.
(The fifth "season" post-launch content still isn't done for either version.)

Tunnel vision. Some people become so obsessed with their current chosen genre or playstyle that they cannot comprehend anything else. You see the same thing with some fighting game peeps who cannot compute the idea of anything without Street Fighter styled controls as being fun.Stilghar wrote:Now, in all seriousness, what's so wrong with trying new things? this game is EPIC..any similar?
Re: Galak-Z: The Dimensional
Bought it and played the first mission. The controls are a bit difficult to get used to at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it the game shines.
I like it a lot

Galak-Z is currently pay-what-you-want in the Humble Indie Bundle 17. If you've been thinking about picking it up, there's no better time than now.
