LNZ: Technically it's even better, just for the simple fact you can use more sources with it. Not sure what the point of 1080i is at 20" out of a consumer perspective but it's still nice. :P There's some pics with my 20F1 in the following posts that answers your questions.

Also got an HDM-3830 in my garage. It's like a BVM on steroids.

Thanks for all your input. Pallet freight freight from germany feels rather secure if you got your 20F1 in a box from japan. Although perfect packaging is a japanese speciallity from my experience. To show 480P you need the HD/SDI board, right? I read somewhere 480p does not work with RGB, only composite?

Grab a copy of a BVM D series operation manual online. This will explain a number of things.

Earlier, I tried to explain that SDI and HD are two different things. SDI won't be useful and you can't use it (at least, not easily). HD is what you want, but you also want the input board to be analog. See if you can't find out what input boards, if any, are already in your BVM, before searching out more; you might not need to buy anything.

Whatever you buy, you'll want it to be analog supporting RGB and sync. It should also support YPbPr component for analog HD signals.

no, 480p through component or RGB is fine. Wii, Cube, XBox work out of the box. PS2 works great, if you configure two channels. One for 15khz RGBs and one for 31khz RGsB. Then all you have to do is switch channels once the PS2 switches to 480p mode. Or you just use component.

So I got my second PVM-20M4E and it's broken aswell... :(

However, this one might actually be fixable!? So I can hear the monitor when I turn it on, I can see a tiny thingie in the middle of the monitor for short while when I turn it off.
I see lights in the control panel when I switch between different modes, but nothing ever happens on the monitor, I try hitting the menu button but nothing happens.
I can hit degauss, and that is lit for a short while but I don't see the standard image degauss wobble.
Menu button doesn't bring up a menu.

The top light indicator is not working on this one (it worked on the older monitor).
Both the power led (green) and the remote led (orange) are both lit.

Maybe some cable inside it is just loose or anyone have a clue what might be wrong?

One of the boards is probably smashed, usually the neck board. Open the monitor (without touching anything, obviously) and see for yourself.
