It is a Chinese custom to stuck red papers, which got Chinese Characters written on them around the house during the New Year festival. It is said this would bring good fortunes in the New Year.

A friend of mine, once got such a red paper with the Chinese words "常滿" on a huge rubbish bin inside his kitchen. I asked him what is that and what does the words mean, and he said "常滿" means "Year of Plenty" and if you stack it within the kitchen, you shall not be hungry though out the year.

Later another friend who know a little Chinese visit him. He had a great laugh when he saw the piece of paper on the rubbish bin. We asked him why and he explained that the piece of paper should be stick on a food storage container, but never on a rubbish bin. Since "常滿" means "Always Filled/Full".
