Well, reactions are probably dependant on who's visiting the forum and what kind of games they're interested in.
I'm just psyched that the Swedish HS has been raised. Now if only somebody would start playing Wild Snail seriously as well... :P
So yeah, just shut up and take our compliments.
Ya done good. Real good.

I'd be happy to congratulate your on your FW accomplishments, and I know you've been absolutely working your ass off on it at a very high level for quite a long time. But I know almost nothing about the game, and I don't like to post about things that I'm unfamiliar with, since there's already enough ill-informed noise around here as it is. I also don't want to make my congratulations (when I do make them) come across as hollow, by pretending to understand how impressive a given score is when I actually don't. As a result, you'll usually just see me sticking around threads for games that I've personally scoreplayed, or at least have some level of familiarity with.

I know that Farm has never really been a particularly ideal place for Touhou-focused players, especially for devoted fans of the less-popular games in the series, so I understand that it must be frustrating. Good job nonetheless. :)

Thanks dudes! :D

There were lots of mistakes made during the latter parts of the game though. Lost the medals at the end of stage 6 because of some bullshit and got to BH2 with pretty minimal resources - had to No Miss all of his third form and all of Glow Squid to get the clear - so focused on getting him dead instead of milking. Got pretty shitty RNG as well with not a lot of grenades in the first form.
An F is most definitely achievable! There are a lot of things that have to go right though; Keeping medals throughout the entire game, getting a good (2,5 mil+ after) bird score, OK RNG on both Fuckballz (this is probably the least likely one to occur), controlling rank throughout whilst still having enough resources to confidently milk BH2. Good RNG on that douche as well.

Have also started playing around with auto-fire. I keep it a couple of steps higher than default from the start (tapping on feeling) which makes the game a lot more fun actually! Everything feels more high paced and controllable. Rank increase is also negligible if you make sure to control rank in an efficient manner.

Good job with he big scores guys, always nice to see more activity.

We have Garegga at Stunfest, but for most of the day the 1P side had a really stiff joystick that was pretty unusable, but I managed to get a 7.2mil to MB2 with a bunch of mistakes along the way. Once they swapped out that stick for a more usable one, I barfed out a D.2 to GS with a multi-medal drop in stage 6 and a lot of safe scoretrick-skipping strategies throughout, so I haven't completely forgotten everything yet, lol.

Can't believe they still have these problems with the cabs.
Should be well prepared with nice and shiny equipment with that many good players visiting.
The cab I used for my "play" (if you could call it that) last year had a faulty stick and glitchy buttons...

Yeah, the Garegga cab was pretty hard to play on before they swapped out the stick. It was much more usable afterwards. CHI, DEL and I are back at the hotel resting, but I reckon Plasmo is trying to knock my score off before they close, like he normally does lol.

The technical issues with the small stage is a bigger problem, though... but the less said about that the better. Tomorrow is Pink Sweets day for me as they have the PCB, along with a Garegga session and helping out with commentary for the Batrider run in the afternoon.

Would have loved to be there and join you guys in competing for the Garegga top.

I can only imagine... hope you'll get through 'em! Will make sure to watch the streams and say hello during Batrider. :)

I like to play a little bit of Garegga every day I can, mostly for fun but also to prevent myself from rusting too much. Today that got me my second clear and a slight score improvement:

Code: Select all

Good job on the letter, Keres. :)

Keep going Shep! A letter score should be easily manageable from now on.
Have you nailed a consistent strategy for Mad Ball yet?

Not really, I haven't changed my strats at all since I cleared the first time. I watched a superplay and I think I understand what to do, but dodging through Mad Ball's attacks while waiting for it to descend low enough is more than I'm willing to handle on a casual run. Mad Ball and the stage 4 medal rails are the main parts I seek to incorporate into my plan when I do try to go for the letter score, with those two pulled off successfully and a good rest of the run I should be able to make it to a letter.

Yeah, what's shown in the video is what you should be doing.
Prepare yourself by having one extra life and a full bomb before going into the fight with homing options triggered and suicide as soon as the boss moves downward (no need to wait unnecessary attack cycles with Miyamoto). In my experience grabbing more than two options after death usually leads to killing off the boss before you're able to destroy all turrets. Make sure to plan in a suicide before killing off the boss as well so that you can bomb the rails.

Fuck! I meant to quote this one for easier editing but ended up replacing the text entirely.
No matter though since the scores are easily improvable.

Many respects to anyone who can get a letter score with any grasshopper ship. If I practice stage 6 and 7 I may clear this game one day.

Thanks! It's honestly pretty easy. The main shot is a real boss killer when powered up and the Mad Balls are easier and more consistent than with Chitta and WS.
Will probably put in another credit today and see if i can beat KET's score.
I didn't even get to BH2 and dropped the medal chain earlier, so a clear should be somewhere around a D. Then again i've only played about 4 credits total so far. :P

Keep it up! Which ship are you using?
For stage 6 one of the most important things to try out imo is what you can see here: sddkaede plays Iron Mackerel
Making sure you can pick up the two uppermost bombfragments from the tank pile and still trigger homing makes managing the field much easier since you'll be able to take out the leftmost battery quicker. It's easy to get fucked or drop the medals there otherwise.
As i', sure you know, homing is the key to the entire stage.

I use miyamoto now because I remembered I like to go fast. Getting the homing options consistently that way is really smart... I need to start doing that.

B,340,700 - ERM - Stage 7 - Black Zeppelin
Would have been a clear if i didn't fuck up on a special option formation at Glow Squids last form.
Rank was so fucking low!

Baron is a pretty boring ship to play with. I might go for Ket's score some day but not in a foreseeable future.

Ket's score here is easily beatable so i'll try to go for it sometime soon.

And for anyone that's interested:
Keep AF with Baron below 15hz prior to the stage 5 midbosses. Raise it to 15 at Nose and keep it the same until The Wall at Stage 6 where you raise it to 20.
30hz at BH2 and onwards.
BH2 needs to be dealt as much damage as possible during his first and third form to kill him off easily.
