Very excited to play this even though I have not purchased a ps4 yet. Really hope its a port of DBAC and not the psp or ios version. They really need to port the mission mode from the arcade version. If they don't that is lazy of them imo since they already have the code from arc.

I would advise everyone to temper their expectations. Perhaps greatly, judging by some of the overly ecstatic responses here.

Darius Burst is pretty meh no matter how you slice it. It's not even a true Taito game, they farmed it out to Pyramid (DBZ Budokai devs), who are hardly a name associated with STGs. I'm sure Pyramid had substantial advising and development support; but the game's C-list origins are plainly obvious in its overall blandness, poorly thought through weapon mechanics, and dull bosses that fail to recapture the awe and gravitas of Gaiden/G-Darius' encounters.

I am not much of a Darius fan, for reasons I have discussed here before, but even I can recognize that the four original Taito arcade releases have a certain weight and appeal to them that Burst almost entirely lacks. Only the opening stage's music and a handful of boss attacks are able to allude to this.

I like Vanilla Burst, and I think it's a good game, especially for a portable exclusive. However I do think criticism against it is fair, it's far from perfect and imo inferior to most of the other titles in the series.

But ACEX is in a very different league. It takes the basic concepts of Burst and scrubs it free of all it's bad points, perfects the mechanics, and expands everything to unbelievably epic proportions. This isn't like comparing DOJ WL and BL, it's more like comparing Donpachi to Dodonpachi. ACEX is a massive step up from Burst despite being conceptually the same. When my friends don't understand why I play shmups, I take them to play ACEX at the arcade. Everyone I've ever played it with was blown away by it, dedicated shmup player or otherwise.

I can't give my source either, but I have it on good word that it is happening. Whether it makes it to a final release is anyone's guess, but it is being developed.

I can't reveal my sources either, but I hear it'll be shipped with a custom version of the Hori Real Arcade Pro VLX Kuro that has a subwoofer and stereo speakers built into it, for that original arcade cabinet experience. :V

My older brother just bought a PS4, so this would be very opportune indeed. I really do wonder how much Chronicle mode would be included; I understand that it's pretty immense. But that type of stuff only adds longevity (and review points) to a shmup release.

I really want a Physical release of this, will settle for a digital... but I'm almost more curious on how folks know about this via a source at this point and why the secrecy on such a low profile title. I mean... what would happen if this info was known?

Ha, I checked this thread last night because it popped into my mind... I thought it had been longer than two months since it last came up. It would be nice to have confirmation soon but I'm sure this thread will tell us if/when we do.
