I haven't seen this posted before:

Darius Gaiden Extra 2P - 42.2 million clear

Ends with 9 lives and 10 bombs, as well as with all captains killed. I suspect this is the highest possible clear bonus, since bombs for score and suicides twice in the first half, and I can't imagine the benefit of those outweighs the bonus of additional lives or bombs if such a bonus existed.

Very similar to the Wasshoi run, aside from doing Great Thing perfectly.

Hey, got this during Death Roulette

Gun Hohki/ Mystic Riders 1cc (2-4)

Could be wrong but from here it looks like the best quality replay of this game on youtube =]

Five months to the day after I first played Battle Garegga, I've 1CC'd the game and uploaded a video of it here.

Also here's a clear of Batrider special course that I did earlier.

Uploaded a bunch of new vids to youtube recently!

First, a couple Progear replays:

Progear no Arashi near-ALL play through - My closest attempt at 1CC-ing this game.

Progear no Arashi 116 million score - Not my best score run, but my longest NMNB run (first mistake at the boss on 2-3).

And a Mushihimesama Futari Black Label run:

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label Original Mode ALL 600 million - Had the itch to play this over the weekend. Not the best score (although a new personal best for me!), but I mainly wanted to test some new capture/codec settings for recording and compressing better looking videos. I also used the same settings on the above 116 million Progear run, so far I think it looks much better!

There aren't enough videos of Battle Bakraid on YouTube, so here's one of my latest clear of Normal course. Not a great run by any means, not even my PB, but it's my highest-scoring clear so far. Still have yet to put any serious effort into chaining anything past the first stage, so expect to see a better run sometime in the future (and also an Advance course clear hopefully).

This also shows what happens if you don't put enough effort into keeping rank down.

So painful to see that run end where it did :(

Bakraid youtube replay was pretty impressive, for someone who has not seen a WR or decent superplay.

When I had zero lives and I saw how quick that first bomb went off, all I was thinking was, "Uh oh. This isn't going to happen."

But that run made me super happy with my overall progress in the game. Next time though, I'll crush it! ;)

This is the highest-scoring superplay on Youtube that I know of, I hadn't watched it in a while but rewatched it a couple days ago and it's so unbelievably next-level compared to anything I've done in the game. It's hard to imagine how the WR is still another 50 million points higher than even that.

Zaarock posted this on Twitter yesterday, but for anyone who hasn't seen it yet two people managed to clear Battle Garegga's Extended mode (two loops) in co-op: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP1LKlbvQO0

Edit: I used Reddit syntax for the first URL -_-

Impressive watch, though wasn't keep on the number of intentional suicide ship losses on some of the stages.

This is like watching a DDP superplay and saying "impressive, but wasn't a fan of all of the chaining."

But that is not what I stated or meant.
'Chaining' on DoDonpachi is skillful and impressive to watch, intention suicide on Battle Bakraid is not skillful or impressive to watch.

It's a Yagawa shmup. Your score is literally measured in how many times you die.

Seriously. Someone who dies 15 times in Garegga scores more than someone who dies 5 times.

In Bakraid especially, suiciding is quite nuanced and skillful when done precisely, because you use them to bridge chains. They're one of the cornerstones of the system, weirdly enough.

Bakraid suicides are incredibly skillful and require amazing amounts of routing and execution.

Muchi Muchi Pork 1.00 clear with Ikuo!

Totally unplanned and a game that I am not very practiced with (especially the stage 4 boss onwards) so expect some poor routing and scoring throughout. Was a totally awesome clear though -- what a cool game!

I just found out that my favourite and trusted 1cc youtube channel - Replay Burners accepts replays that are made using rerecords (loading savestates).
Some time ago I subscribed to YT channel of AZK-BAC (one of Replay Burners players) . I watched his videos and liked them much but today I noticed that in some of his videos there is an emulator message that shows the number of rerecords used. For example MD shmup Whip Rush (283 rerecords) or Splatter House 2 (over 700 rerecords). These are the same replays that are on Replay Burners channel. I'm not saying they cheat but I don't like to be not informed about tool assistance. I have watched hundreds of their 1cc's and now I feel weird.
What do you guys think? I know there are a lot of RB fans on this forum.

Oh no, really? That's a huge shame, I always liked them because they seemed like one of the few YT arcade clear video places that didn't do re-records or invincibility or whatever. I had kind of had some suspicion of that though, some of the runs from AZK-BAC had some tell-tale signs of re-recording.

Utter shame.

MamePlayer informs in his channel info about using savestates so I think he is fair. But AZK-BAC - the player who loops Gradius I 20 times - submitting tool-assisted MD shit to elite channel. That I cannot understand.

I would be glad if someone confirms my suspicions about that because I feel strange questioning this awesome channel.

Managing to keep the Naval chain all the way through the stage was significant enough to me that I uploaded the run to YouTube. Died to the stage 3 boss but most likely would have survived if I hadn't forgotten to release a bomb before running into a bunch of bullets (I pressed the bomb button while the previous bomb was still going so I didn't launch the bomb), but it was a flawless run by my standards up to that point. Kind of a bummer that it ended that way, because even though I haven't practiced scoring on the stages afterwards I would have gotten 3.2 million from the turret flap that I died trying to get, and a bunch of extends at the start of the next stage.

I knew that Prometheus played with a keyboard, but it's interesting to me that he apparently uses WASD for movement. I suppose using the left hand for movement and right for fire controls mimics the typical arcade stick layout more closely than vice versa, but it's not like that matters much if you're not planning on switching to an arcade stick or gamepad.

By the way, have another Bakraid video, this time a 1CC of Normal Course.

No emotion or drama in playing with a keyboard. It makes everything look like Korean esports.

Compare to the masterful stick handling in this.

Would you be at all interested in annotating that...? Just thought I'd ask

EDIT: Or have a link to an annotated Bakraid normal course clear with some scoring? Kinda too lazy to read the ST (and I don't even know how comprehensive it is), especially considering that I'm currently playing Under Defeat and don't intend to stop any time soon.

I'm holding off on doing any extensive annotations until I've got a run I'm satisfied with (maybe in Advanced Course too), as I've still got a lot to improve beyond the first three stages (and there are even some extra chains to be had in the second stage). When I get that run I'll be more than happy to annotate it, though I'm not quite sure yet what sorts of annotations would be most useful.

The ST's pretty comprehensive in explaining the mechanics, at least the multiplier system, which is by far the most important thing in Bakraid. Most of the other mechanics are shared with Garegga and Batrider. It doesn't have much on specific stage strats beyond stage 1, but on that front trap's got some info on his site, including maps of where all the chain targets are in the first five stages. Most of the strats I've been using are taken from a playlist Icarus recently put together, which in turn is drawn from this superplay by yk. What's interesting to note is that yk's superplay is the highest scoring publicly available replay that I know of, but it's still a full 50 million points behind the world record, so there's still a lot left to be figured out in regards to how it's even possible to score 130 million points.
