Which version do you prefer? Original or the one with yellow ball bullets? The latter one seem easier on eyes coming from the other shmups. Is everyone in the hiscore competitive scene playing the original one? Sorry for the stupid questions I am still a noob
Also how rare is Type 2 pcb? I haven't seen it on sale anywhere.
Is that because of the original version being more common so the competitive scene formed around it? I've seen some complaints about hard to see bullets from fellow noobs. Or the second version has game breaking issues?
You will learn to love the bullet sprites. You will come to realize that bullet sprites which are so unhelpful that they might as well be rendered behind the background layer are superior design.
But seriously, it's actually part of the challenge.
I would be curious to know if the differing bullet sprites have different hitboxes.
Just play the original, Battle Garegga's bullets aren't nearly as difficult to see as they are in some other games. If you're getting hit by invisible bullets that's because you're not familiar with the enemies, and you probably wouldn't have noticed in time anyway had the bullets been flashier. I don't know if any of the bullets have different hitboxes, but the original bullet sprites have more personality and fit the artstyle better.

Battle Garegga and Battle Garegga Type 2 are two very different games. Yes, there's the cosmetic differences (Changing bullets to spheres), but the option mechanics have been reworked as well. You can no longer change option formation; instead, each ship gets a special formation and keeps it for the whole game. Silversword gets Search, Grasshopper gets Shadow, Flying Baron gets Homing, and Wild Snail gets Wide. In addition, rank now decreases upon dropping a medal. Not sure what else has changed, but make no mistake, it is not the same game.
Somehow, for this one game, people gravitated around the version Japan actually plays. No idea why. There is a certain argument to be made for a "cult" of Garegga. I guess.
So in the Saturn version, if you turn the bullets to "Ball" in the options, does this turn the whole game to Type 2 rules or do you get the best of both worlds?
I think it just changes the bullets. Same with the M2 port's bullet options.
