Played some more, this time the Japanese version. I find it amusing in the US version that they censored the harpy boss, changing the graphic to a bird with armour on.

Just to add another score to the arcade Kiki Kaikai list, decided to fire up the game.

Kiki Kaikai (MAME) - 89,850 Scene 3 Bloodreign

Kiki Kai Kai (PC Engine) 58,100 Scene 2 Bloodreign

The PCE version to me seems tougher, less room to move on the screen.

Wow, really?? Thats interesting, I had no idea. Were there any other graphical changes between the SNES and SFC games, besides the talismans?

Guess I'll be looking for the Japanese version of the first game...

One has to marvel at the greatness that was Natsume during the heydays of the 8-bit and 16-bit era. This and Wild Guns are already flawless games, The Ninja Warriors Again on the other hand is just out of this world.

While I do realize that I'm quite late with my question I still have to ask: how is it possible to counterstop the second SFC/SNES game? If I recall correctly the enemies keep on spawning but your time inevitably runs out. Is there some spot where you can get so many points from milking the enemies that your extends outweigh the lost lives?

I still don't have any idea how to counterstop the game. I wager it'd take quite some time, too.
