Re: Which Touhou Games Should We Get?
I thought spellcards don't give any faith items from bullets cancelled by bombs, is there any other scoring-related reason to bomb them? The current record captures all the spellcards except Hina's midboss spell, and I have no idea why he bombed that. Non-spells are great for bombing though, yes, specifically deathbombing if you can pull it off.Sakurei wrote:It is far better to bomb two or three spell cards than it is to capture everything and never bomb at all. Bombing is a huge part of MoF scoring and saying otherwise is plain misinformation and that isn't good when you advise a new player.

1. I didn't know there was a modded MoF that had replaced the last boss with Dragon Blaze's stage 6 boss! Got a link? (EDIT: Just to be clear to any mods reading this, I don't condone piracy, I'm not actually asking for an MoF link, this is a joke, etc etc etc)
2. I like the DOJ st 4 boss's first pattern just as much as the next guy, but calling a multi-color version of it the best pattern ever is a bit much, don't you think?
Sometimes you don't need to play a game to know that it sucks. That's a nice basis to say a game sucks on

Yeah, bomb them if you think you will die. Don't do it otherwise, is what I meant to say.Shepardus wrote:I thought spellcards don't give any faith items from bullets cancelled by bombs, is there any other scoring-related reason to bomb them? You're a dumbass if you think they're the same of pattern just because they have bullet lined up next to each other. To quote a good friend of mine:"It's hard not to be elitist when people are this stupid"Obscura wrote:2. Re: Which Touhou Games Should We Get?
If you speedkill midboss Hina, you get more waves of enemies that drop faith items that end up getting you more points later in the game.
Another note about bombing in MoF is that it costs you 3,000 Faith unless it's a deathbomb, in which case you don't lose any faith. So in a scorerun, any time you want to bomb, you have to do it when running into a bullet so that you avoid the faith penalty
As for recommendations, I'd probably say IN, MoF, and SA.
If you prefer consistency in boss patterns(since generally most stage patterns are able to be memorized regardless of game), then IN is going to be the best for that. It has the most spellcards that you can do the same thing for every time, which makes it a more consistent game.
If you want more RNG dodging in bosses, there's EoSD, PCB, MoF, and UFO. But I would suggest against UFO as there's quite a bit of bad design at times in quite a bit of the boss patterns. DDC also looks pretty neat from what I've seen except for the stage 5 boss, but I haven't played that one myself.

I hope one of them is Shoot the Bullet, even Touhou haters like that one!
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

If you're looking to play for score, pick another series. These games have woefully bad practice modes. If you insist, play 12 :3 - or 10, 10 is pretty good mechanics wise but the patterns are pretty weak and will likely leave you bored quickly.
If you're just going for survival, get 12, 14 and 6 (avoid 8, 13 and 11 for this) and don't ever use your bombs. They make any game easy :3

You don't need a reason to dodge things. http://www.liliumstg.blogspot.com/2015/ ... s-log.html

The only Touhou game (from the official bullet hell shooters at least) I could easily replay and highly recommend to everyone is Fairy Wars, one of the most original and enjoyable shmups I've ever played. And unfortunately one of the most overlooked (despite the fact that it's fan-translated).http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Fairy_Wars

A bit late, but I'd say EoSD, MoF, and UFO.
