Just cleared the Touhou 12 extra stage for the first time!



I actually started off this run pretty poorly, so I wasn't expecting to get far, but I managed to clear several spellcards that I wasn't expecting to and ended up with enough bombs and lives left over to spam my way through the survival spellcard. The last spell was also a lot easier than I expected, I cleared it without having ever seen it before (except for one time when I panicked and ran right into the first set of lasers).

Only have two more extra stages left before I'm done with them all, 13 and 12.8! (at least until a new Touhou game comes out)

Completely inferior, I managed to fell Dark Helios on B-F-K in Dariusburst today, which I'm pretty sure is the hardest route in the game. Now I just need to see off Hungry Gluttons on J and I've officially killed the cab.

Killing Hibachi is amazing, I was just practicing that and I pretty much need to bomb whenever a red beam is about to hit me because the blue bullets take up all my attention, well whatever, I would only ever get there if I played 1-round mode anyway.

Recently I just got S rank in Ikaruga chapter 4, it seems you need 5.5 million points to get it, I was at 5.4 for ages and ages, here's to S-ranking chapters 2 and 3 since I only really got 4 because I favor it a lot, probably cause I got some kind of Stockholm Syndrome from how absurdly difficult the stage is for survival when you're still figuring it out.

Thanks, and give it another shot! Like in other shmups once you get a route going it's much easier, maybe I'll upload some of my Ikaruga runs because they're a lot more relaxed and common sense than the superplays and still get well over 50% of the world record. (so much for the Ikaruga rigidity argument)

I think I maxed out around 12 million. I could S+ stages 1-3, but never put any time into 4 so it was a last as long as I could type thing.

Now that I've been playing shooters for almost 2 years and have some clears under my belt I would consider going back to it at some point.

Clearing Mars Matrix would go a long way in convincing me.

1CC in DonPachi. Should have cleared this ages ago, really, but still quite satisfying to beat it. Bomb spammed every level, just to get those sweet extra bombs. Almost screwed it up at the start of Stage 5 by losing a life (plus all those extra bombs) but made it through with a life to spare against the boss. Made it to 2-3 in the end, with a score of 11,996,360.

Yeah, as of last night, I got my 1st Lunatic mode 1cc of Imperishable Night! I was working at this for a week, slightly more than that, and I got it, so it was cool! I used the Scarlet Team for that particular 1cc of mines.

Well, that's the 6th Touhou game I've beaten on Lunatic mode! I'm getting a little closer to beating all of the Touhou STG games on lunatic mode (Yeah, I'm doing both the PC-98 games & the windows games) to where I will eventually be able to pursue greater goals in the STG/shmup genre, Touhou & other STGs/shmups besides Touhou! ^^

Also, congrats to Softdrink (I don't know much about Raizing games currently, since I haven't played one yet, but nice going on that 1cc! ^^), Shepardus (Planning to do Touhou lunatic at some point? ^^ Also, yeah, I should do the other Touhou extra stages at some point. I did some (PCB (+P), IN, PoFV, MoF, & GFW), but not all), & DocHauser (Nice going on looping DonPachi! I should work on that one at some point)! Good stuff!

Congrats @Softdrink. I've followed you trying to take down that game for a while now. I always enjoy to see effort rewarded.

As for me, I 1-alled Gunbird 2. Yay? It seemed like an annoyingly hard game when i first picked it up but then like half a year later I picked it up again and it turned out that I still remembered how to do everything (thanks to Zil for sharing some insight on how to do certain things) and that the entire first loop was suddenly easy outside of the timing on Stage 5 boss' 2nd forms first attack so I 1'alled it swiftly. It was a fun game, scored about 1.1 million which isn't a lot but its an improvement over my previous :3 I hope i can one day 2-all it.

Myself, I just cleared Raiden Densetsu. It's one of those terrible games that is literallly effortless when you're powered up, but if you take your eyes off the screen and get hit it becomes damn near impossible. I lost more than one credit to looking at my phone between stages and not turning my attention back to the game soon enough.

I called it "one of those terrible games that is literallly effortless when you're powered up", but there's a certain joy in sitting in the middle of the screen with no worries then killing the boss before it fires a single shot. My first credit I knew it was a bad game, but I put a couple hours into clearing it and don't regret that.

I'm hoping to do that eventually, but I'm still quite a long ways off from it - I've yet to clear any on Hard except for IN (that deathbomb window sure is a lifesaver), and I haven't even cleared GFW on Normal. I'll finally be putting some time into it after finishing up the extra stages, though!

Also, congrats on the IN Lunatic 1cc! I love 1ccs that get all the way down to the last life - I can feel the tension even though I'm not the one playing the game.

Salamander 2 (2-ALL)

After a few weeks I've finally finished off the 2-ALL for Salamander 2 using Vic Viper. I know most players use the player 2 ship (Super Cobra) because the game is easier for some reason (lower rank, especially in loop 1 and the first stage of loop 2).

This game is pretty underrated although there are definitely some big issues that keep it back from being great:

1.) Force field rarely drops, and the hitbox is enormous with it equipped.
2.) Awesome music, but some of it only shows up in the second loop (2-5 is my favorite theme)
3.) Game is pretty short, only about 17 mins for each loop.
4.) Some very cryptic ways to score bonuses in stage 1 and 4
