Thanks for your contribution. Post count +1.
Way to buy into an obvious troll.

Seriously, though. Are implying that these podcasts are going to be of any consequence in 100 years either?

Why would you do that? :( People are having a serious, civil discussion about the podcasts they like and for some reason you feel the need to walk in to the room and take a shit on the floor? Is this how you act in real life, or are you only so charming online?
One of the first things you learn when learning to be human in social situations is to reply with "yes, and.." rather than act as a sullen teenager with "no", and "nuthin'" as a reply. If you have nothing to say, or contribute, why hit the "reply" button? Just to let the world know that you're a dark, affected nihilist, and find joy in nothing aside from prodding others for a reaction?
Congratulations.

You're not strange. You're just a teenager trying to build an identity, looking for attention. Perhaps the third+ child in your family? Perfectly normal, hopefully you grow out of it soon.

No - I'm implying that nothing that most any of us do is of any consequence. Podcasts included. I'm challenging you to tell me something you do that isn't "pointless" as you put it. We're talking about ways to pass the time. I use podcasts as a method of not losing my mind staring out a train window, or watching the dork next to me play Puzzle & Dragons for ~4 hours a day. Pointless? Maybe. But it keeps me sane.

Wow, I think I found rancor's hot button. :| I'm just not going to get into this because it will clearly result in nothing.

Anyway, as far as podcasts go, I don't have much experience. I've watched/listened to the STGWeekly podcast episodes, but that's all that I can think of at the moment. Though there was this one time about five years ago I caught this virus that kept accessing random podcasts (or maybe they were radio shows?) on the internet and I couldn't find it for months. I still don't understand why or how it happened, but it was irritating and simultaneously interesting at the same time. The computer that I caught it on is long gone, too.

One thing that I don't like is that just hearing "podcast" without knowing anything about them makes you think you need an ipod or something.

edit: Oh hey. Taking a random quote completely out of context and applying it to this situation. Real mature. You'd probably make a good lawyer.

I listen to the following podcasts:

Entertainment
Hollywood Babble-On - Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman (local radio personality) bitch about Hollywood.
Fatman on Batman - Kevin Smith discusses his favorite comic book hero. Interviews with artists, editors, and anyone else that has been involved with Batman in some way. Sporadic updates.

Technology
Twit.tv - Specifically MacBreak Weekly, Windows Weekly, and This Week in Google
iMore Podcasts - Specially Debug and Vector. I am subscribed but I pick and choose which episodes to listen to.

Video Games
Completely Unnecessary Podcast - Two guys that discuss comic books, video games, and wrestling. Game collecting is discussed often but not in an irritating way.
Official Playstation Podcast - All Sony Playstation brand discussion about video games and interviews with developers on the platform. Sometimes there is banter about movies and other media.
Tinycast - Contributors of the Tinycartridge website discuss portable gaming.
Roguelike Radio - Discussion about rouge-likes. Sporadic updates. My favorite episode is the one about Shiren the Wanderer.
Bonfireside Chat - An analyzation of the Souls series lore.

Other
This American Life - Alternating stories each week. Some good, some great.

Yeah, sorry about that. Trolling wasn't really the word I meant to use. Trolling implies malicious intent but really I was only joking around.

um, seriously wtf??? why has no one mentioned Welcome to Night Vale yet? If you havent heard it, go listen to it now. Do give it a few episodes, it definitely gets better.
Other than that Noise Channel Radio, kinda like the way the host sounds, its chiptune music.

edit: also, i will now forever read satori's post in the voice of a annoying 5-year-old inside my head.

wow, didn't see this until now... but no. I've just been listening to his backlog for the most part.

the guy from the podcast "serial" that I mentioned in the OP, just won the right to appeal his case which is pretty nuts... I'm guessing that's what the second season is going to be about.

NPR's Planet Money is one of few podcasts where the many dozens of back episodes still have relevant info.

I've been a big fan of Vinesauce (a group of variety game streamers) for awhile now, and I've shamelessly plugged them here from time to time.

And now I'm plugging for them again! Vinny, the head streamer, recently started up his own podcast with one of his co-streamers (KY) called "2 on the vine", where they talk about upcoming game releases (mainly focusing on indie games, rogue-likes, Nintendo stuff, etc.), games they're currently playing (lately it's been Monster Hunter and Darkest dungeon), the game mechanics they either enjoy or dislike in video games, their experiences at gaming conventions (last episode they talked about their trip to PAX east), or small anecdotes (like the story of how Vinny got curious while on a hotel elevator and decided to open the emergency phone box, only to find literally nothing but a single muffin).

They also like to play a guessing game on the podcast called Greenlight Guess where KY gives Vinny a description for a game, and he has to guess whether it's a description for an actual game on Steam Greenlight, or a fake description sent in by a listener. Hilarity ensues.

There are quite a few references to the livestream, and Vinny has a tendency to do stupid voices, but I still think it's a pretty good podcast by itself since Vinny and KY both are pretty chill guys and don't try to force an exaggerated public persona: it's just two normal likable guys talking about vidya.

I listen to too many podcasts and simply cannot get enough, this is a problem with being a multiformat retro gamer and having a wide scope of interest. I listen them to and from work in the week, while using public transport at the weekend, while doing house work and even fall asleep listening to them,so a bit of a podcast nut really.
Here are the links but as my post is going to be moderated I hope they work and you do not mind so many links in one post, they appear to be fine in post preview.

I'm a huge comedy podcast consumer: Do The Right Thing, Pappy's Bangers and Mash, Answer Me This, The Bugle, Adam and Joe, Richard Herring etc.

But I'm running dry. Who else has some good comedy podcasts to make me feel like I'm not alone when work takes my wife away and I potter about the house?

Bill Burr's Monday morning podcast is too good - especially if you're a fan of Bill Burr. He basically talks to himself (as if he's holding a conversation w/ you) every Monday Morning. Just a couple months ago he started the Thursday Afternoon Podcast that he does every other week if not every week. Been listening since 2013 and been getting some great laughs. He does fan submitted questions via his twitter accounts and it's pretty much my favorite part of the episodes.

the Cracked podcast is surprisingly good and somewhat informative too.

he hasn't done one in awhile, but catching up w/ "By The Way" in conversation with Jeff Garlin is pretty great.

my buddy swears by the comedy comedy bang bang podcast but I personally haven't been able to get into it.

Marc Maron's "WTF" is the staple of comedy podcasts, it just sucks that he's such an insufferable douche. the people he interviews are pretty great though. I really liked the Johnny Knoxville, Danny McBride, Elijah Wood, and Steven Wright episodes.

no problemo and I'm actually gonna be queuing up some of the ones I haven't listened to that you listed. I usually listen to 'em on commute to/from work and I'm usually that weirdo on public transit with headphones in laughing to myself.

Also...I just realized that a lot of the "WTF" episodes I recommended are premium-only, so if you're interested... let me know and I can share my login details with you.

I like podcasts about horror movies.

Found Footage Files
Bloody Good Horror
Cadaver Lab
The Horror Movie Show

& then usually that will transition into listening to random superstitious weirdies on Jim Harold's Campfire.

OOH! Mark Rosewater's Drive to Work (iTunes) is good. I find him fascinating to listen to, and a great source of Magic history. The first 9 or so podcasts have the least quality audio, but it improves after that for sure.

Also, by god, found Classic Loveline on iTunes (thank you Rancor). Fan-tastic preservation.

I've been catching up on Sam Harris' Waking Up podcast. I saw a few of his talks and interviews with Joe Rogan on youtube, and decided to listen to his podcasts. The interviews he's done have all been really interesting and have helped me through a few long drives.

Sam Harris is a loathsome cunt and shame on Joe Rogan for giving the snide state apologist a platform.
It seems to be that this is what Rogan's role is now, he never gets an opposing viewpoint on his podcast. You'll never see him get into it with Chomsky, or a journalist like Chris Hedges or anyone on the perceived 'far left' since he'd be destroyed live on air.
Harris is just another Trot opportunist like Hitchens and the logical conclusion for the poison these assholes like Bill Maher and Harris are pushing is a Final Solution for Muslims.
I stopped paying attention to Rogan a long time ago. I find it hilarious that some meathead acts as an advocate for expanding consciousness through psychedelics while actively encouraging and getting excited by people knocking each other unconscious. Surely a true advocate for psychedelics would be pushing an agenda to shame those who use violence against other humans?
When my friends and I first started experimenting with psychedelics at 14 the first thing we wound up talking about is the absurdity of humans harming other humans and I'm sure that's the same for many who have experimented. And that was our first time.
Rogan didn't touch anything until he was 30.
There's a backlash against Rogan and his partner Aubrey Marcus and their snake oil at the minute which seems to be picking up pace. I only hope they're shown up for the frauds they are. Also, I know it's entirely subjective but I have never once laughed at a Rogan stand up, I can't understand why people would find him funny at all, but what is funny is seeing how insecure he gets around comedians who're more respected than he is, like Stanhope.
