Great Mahou Daisakusen Extra Characters

Post by Gingerzilla »

Hi All,
I have just been giving Capcom's Great Mahou Daisakusen a good old play and setting up it's dip switches to make it better. But they are in Japanese so it's a bit of a reading memory challenge to say the least. Anyway I'm just wondering if I can set up the extra characters within the dip switches without putting in a code each time I play?
Cheers

I wasn't aware the game even had any DIP switches. It's a CPS2 game so everything should be configured from the service menu. Sadly I don't think there is an option to enable the other Mahou and Batrider characters automatically.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I don't think there's any option to permanently turn on extra characters... and I could be wrong, but it would probably require a new rom chip to auto-input the code for you (sorta like the zakk roms for battle garegga).

here's the english operators manual which should help you with the service menu options.

The Manual link is not working?
I have Battle Garegga as well. How does one get the Zakk Roms?

manual on the right hand side.

I had the roms for garegga done a bit back but I think I went through hobby roms.

I wonder how hard it would be to patch the ROM so that the characters are permanently enabled on the PCB? Seems like a great idea.

The cps2 roms need to be decrypted, patched (& don't forget the rom check), then re-encrypted.
The patching part is no problem, I just have no idea about the encryption stuff..

Here's a patch I put together (xdelta format) for the JPN version of Dimahoo, which simply enables all hidden characters without needing to input the code. This requires you have the decrypted rom in order to apply the xdelta to.
